Appealing on arrival, but overall disappointing. If you’re here, go for the sushi or burger spots. Lunch here on a Wednesday with a party of five. I’d never eaten at PQ before, and relied on the people who’d invited me to walk me through how it worked and the prices. No prices on display (at all!!) is disappointing, and it felt like a deli counter with staff shouting “anyone waiting?” and no visible queueing system. A window of pre-made sandwiches, then a bain-marie style setup of various offerings. Lots of options, dietary needs marked, and all looked fresh and appealing. The sign said to choose 2-3 items, but didn’t suggest sizes. I made a time-conscious choice and went with “Porchetta, steamed veg, and hot chips”. Portions are highly variable depending on the staff member filling your tray. My person picked up the chips individually, and picked through the veg.. I watched like a hungry cat; making a hand gesture to add another piece of broccoli, without success. My tray was pretty light on, although a colleague ordered “chicken, steamed veg, and chips” for the same price, but received her chicken and veg in the tray, then a side container of chips. Mine rattled, but her lid was squished down. 🤷♀️ Temperature of the veg was a bit sad, and some were almost raw. I made the effort to cut the kernels off the corn cob, then tasted one and couldn’t eat them. Pork was tasty, but difficult to eat out of the tray. You’ll need metal cutlery.
Food Court seating was great. The cleaning staff here are amazing. Area is cool (on a hot humid day) but windy with someone losing a bag, a wrapper, and we were constantly pinning...
Read moreG'day mates! Gave Public Quarter a burl down on 1 William St, Brisbane CBD, and let me tell ya, it's not a bad spot on a Friday Lunch. Right next to the parliament house (maybe you'll spot a pollie or two?), QUT, and the Botanic Gardens. Love nipping in here on a Friday lunch - live music, a smorgasbord of salads and hot nosh, and plenty of room to stretch the old legs. Place is clean as a whistle and roomy as.
Look, not gonna spin a yarn, some days it's more "meh" than "yeah!", but mostly, it's on the money. The pork belly? Absolute winner, especially with a drizzle of that gravy. And if you're looking for a tipple, nothing beats washing it all down with a schooner of Alcoholic ginger beer. Cheers...
Read moreIt's ok....but pretty exxy for pretty stingey serving sizes (which I've noticed have gradually got smaller over time). Salmon and steamed veg for $17.60 but they give you barely any steamed veg (which isn't exactly the expensive component). Food usually luke warm too. I only go here if i've forgotten to bring lunch and because there's not much else around close by, but if there was competition around I'd definitely go somewhere else with more...
