It's difficult to write a review on Sky Deck at Queen's Wharf. I'd like to rate it 5-starts but just can't. I'm a Brisbane local and have watched this being built since Day 1. The concept is great and it has promised so much. We've been to Queen's Wharf a few times since it opened. Three times from the Southbank entrance via Neville Bonner Bridge (lovely), and twice from George Street, also impressive. Our first time was just for a 'look'. The second was for a casual lunch, and while the food at Babblers was nice and quite good value it was difficult to get a seat - I put that down to opening pains. The third was on a Friday night after attending a concert at QPAC. We arrived at 9.15pm and wanted a light meal /snack and drink. We went to Aloria and was told the kitchen closed at 9.00pm so we couldn't come in. Getting a drink / seat anywhere on the deck was near impossible so we left and went home. We would have been quite happy to stay and have a drink or two. Fourth visit to Queen's Wharf was for a function-it was OK, but needed some improvement - again early days. The fifth visit was a Monday night. We had some international business colleagues with us. We went to Sky Deck at 6pm for a quick before drink dinner - we had a booking for dinner at Luc Lac on Level 4. Dinner was superb, and we decided to extend the night by going back up to Sky Deck to show our international guests Brisbane by night, and have another drink. We arrived at 9.55pm to be told that the Sky Deck closes at 10.00pm but 'we could have a quick look around"!! When I asked why they closed so early I was told 'we were going to be 24/7 but now close at 10.00pm, and open until midnight on the weekend.' So, after a 'quick look' around we left and went home. We could easily have stayed for 60-90 minutes, spent some more money and left with a great impression of Brisbane. Our international colleagues were astounded that such a magnificient showpiece in a 'New World City' closed so early. It was embarrasing for us trying to show off our home. Walking back down George Street we noticed a couple of cheaper eateries were still open and serving customers, but our newest and shiniest wasn't. I think we need to do much better if we are serious about the visitor / night time economy. But, go take a look for yourself, it is a beautiful venue which will hopefully...
Read moreA woman driving a commercially registered vehicle with this business name as the number plate saw fit to park in the only disabled parking space available in a parking lot in chermside, when a disabled person approached to kindly let her know that her disabled permit was not being displayed, she cut them off to very rudely say she was not parking in a disabled spot, then continued to remain parked there, despite obviously disabled people with a displayed permit being present who needed that space. She then proceeded to shine the bright LED headlights of her vehicle into the eyes of said disabled people in an attempt to make them get out of her way. Called the company to inform them this was how their staff behave while being identified as affiliated with their business, but was told by the receptionist in charge of bookings that no such car exists. Don’t support a business that can’t even follow the most basic of parking laws. Absolutely disgusting, privileged, and uncivilised behaviour from a woman so done up with makeup she looked like she was ready for the...
