Yeah, breakfast was âokayâ. Iâm hoping we caught them on a bad day at the start of the year. The toilet is âcuteâ and clean, but somewhat offputting.
I checked in advance Red Bowler would be open, and mentioned I planned to arrive with a group of 10. They said they looked forward to seeing us. Unfortunately, outdoors was all in full sun. Indoors there was one large dining table and the owner vacated so we could sit. It was cosy. The large group wasnât an issue; but the staff seemed unprepared to serve this many people and were visibly distressed and confused taking orders. I ordered and sat. About 5min later another patron said to me that theyâd overheard me order avo on toast - and there wasnât any. I returned to the queue.. The poor cashier was having trouble with the order before me, and took several deep breaths. Coffees arrived about 10-15min later, but in a weird order. Meals were 30min or more.
No complaints as such, but a bit meh. Unlikely to return for breakfast. Would be a lovely spot for a coffee and a croissant on your own. Dog friendly with a run to latch on and water bowls. Thereâs a wheelchair accessible toilet, but you wouldnât be able to access it in a wheelchair. Plus thereâs a chair beside the toilet itself. Hoping it doesnât eventually end up out in the...
Read moreDespite the friendly service and delicious food, it was one of the worst brunches weâve had. First, they took 15 mins to get 5 plates out, then when it arrived, 2 plates were wrong. So then we had to wait another 15 mins for the corrected order (which was just scrambled eggs and avo toast - shouldnât take long). Then when that arrived my daughter took one bite of the avo on toast and felt sick. Sheâs allergic to dairy which is why we ordered it vegan (without feta) but there were tiny flecks of feta throughout it. It looked like they added feta then realised they messed up (again) and attempted to remove it. I pointed this out to the kitchen staff who were adamant they didnât add feta, despite it clearly being visible on the toast. So the feta must have spontaneously generated. A Halloween mystery. My daughter vomited all over the carpet when we got home, so...
Read moreWe were staying in Duncan St for W/end and discovered Red Bowler wine bar and cafe. We were captivated by the beautiful interior and stopped for coffee with the dog outside after early morning walk. HAD to come back again round lunchtime for a wine. Donât know anywhere quite like this on the Gold Coast. Dave has done an exceptional job to bring something unique to the West End Precinct. So where are all you West Enders? Helen and Don. Wish we didnât...
