Buckle up your in for a ride Let me take you back to 24th January 2022, it was my 30th birthday and after discussing dinner plans with my mum, she convinced me to give The Boatshed some thought. It’s a little pricey in comparison with my usual $10 local steak special, but as I was on my mums dime I thought ‘why not’! We invited my brothers family, and 4 of my best friends to come and try Brisbanes best steak. I was a little nervy, but gave the eye fillet a hot crack. UNREAL. Literally melted in my mouth. Also that maple bacon could make pigs fly. Everyone was happy. Great memories made! Fast forward to last week, we were discussing a mates bday dinner and I threw out into the universe everyone coming to my newly favourite steak restaurant. After some convincing they all agreed. I was a bit nervous leading upto today - would it be as good as I remember? Our waitress Amber was fantastic. She explained with ease the different types of steaks and provided her recommendation. We all settled on the sirloin with a mix of toppings. One by one out meals came out and we were delighted. One of our local group members, who I shall call Karen, was a tough critic. She made Amber and Ben’s night extra difficult by switching and swapping and asking for drinks not on the menu. Amber, and the rest of the team, handled it all so perfectly and with a genuine smile. I was so full by the end i thought i might explode or I would have to be rolled out the door, but I managed to find a smidge of room for dessert. The sticky date pudding. Wow. Wowowowowo. Honestly would go back just to lick that caramel off the plate. The staff put a sparkler in our friends dessert and honestly they were just the best. Shout out to Amber and Benn for all their hard work! There was one other guy but I am so sorry I can’t remember his name! All in all it was a great experience, my reputation for knowing good restaurants is still intact and I will absolutely be back! Thanks everyone :)

What surprised me about our most recent visit to the famous Regatta Hotel, on a busy Sunday evening, was how quick and efficient the service was, despite the fact that the place was packed, inside and outside. I guess most people, like us, had come to take advantage of their generous January promo of 50% of all food and drink between 5-6pm. And what a win that was. Four of us dined and we ordered three steaks, a steak sandwich, two schooners of Kosciuszko Pale Ale, a cold drink and a glass of sparkling wine, and it all came to a reasonable $67. We managed to find ourselves a table outside, which was just as well. It was a warm, muggy, summer evening, perfect for “alfresco” dining and in any event, indoors was hellishly noisy. And full marks to our friendly waitress, who went out of her way to set up the table for us, and to make sure that we were comfortable. Despite the racket indoors, outside it was laid back, cool and relaxing and we enjoyed our evening. We did our ordering through the app, and that went off smoothly, this being the second time we’ve done that, so I guess we’ve got the hang of it now. The drinks came out fairly quickly, and it only took about 15 minutes for the main meals to arrive, an outstanding effort given how busy it was. And our servers were all polite, efficient and helpful. I ordered the rump steak with gravy. It was well cooked, the way I like it with a nice serve of crunchy chips and a nutritious and colourful side salad. My wife's sirloin came with BBQ sauce, which added a nice tangy flavour to the meat. Toilets are inside: They’re modern, clean and well provisioned, but they can get a bit crowded. This place is clearly a big favourite with the locals, and it’s not hard to see why. It hums like a well oiled machine, no matter how many people they have to look after.

Regatta Beef Burger- Angus Beef, Fried Crispy Pickles, Red Cheddar, Smoked Bacon, River Road Burger Sauce, Milk Bun with Fries and Aioli ($22) 9/10 Southern Fried Chicken Burger- Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Maple Bacon, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, American Cheddar, Chipotle Aioli, Milk Bun with Fries and Aioli ($20) 9/10 Better Beer Your Mates Larger Overall: 9/10 Review: I haven’t been to the Regatta in ages, especially for food. We got there at peak hour lunch time on a Sunday so a lot of the tables were taken. We decided to sit outside near the coffee cart which was nice and chill. We ordered via the QR code, both of us deciding on a burger and beer (good combo, right!). I went with the beef as I normally prefer this to chicken when it comes to burgers. This burg had everything I look for in a hearty pub feed. Soft and fresh bun, thick and juicy patty, bacon, sauce and fried pickles. I thought the fried pickles and bacon both added a great flavour and really did luxe up the dish. There was a good amount of sauce which was quite flavourful. Fries on the side were crispy with a good amount of salt and paired perfectly with the aioli. Chicken got a good review too with a thick piece of battered chicken, melted cheese, bacon and fresh veggies. Would defs recommend coming here for a chill lunch with a good verity of options and fast service.

With a U K friend in tow, we went for a drink in the late arvo at the Main Bar, and stayed for a meal. I had beer-battered barramundi and chips with salad, the friend had a steak sandwich, and hubby had a beef burger. He said the meat patty was cooked well, and the additions were really enjoyable - the right amount of gherkins, etc. The chips were chips – fine, tasty, the usual. My fish was wonderful – juicy and tender, with crispy not-too-thick batter. The salad was fresh, with a tangy dressing. The burger and sandwich (with chips) went down well. Servings are very generous, and we managed to scoff them down ‘cos we were hungry little diners. We drank Prosecco, and a G&T, and a soft drink. Staff were pleasant (our UK friend said she missed the friendly Aussie waitering-style now she lives overseas.), and food came out promptly. Even for a Monday night, this place was fairly busy. We all enjoyed the meals and drinks, and the respite from the day’s endeavours. There are several bars, and a café and a restaurant here. Much more for us to explore on another night.

I've been to the regatta a few times because I live down the road (so convenient!) The food is consistently yummy, not always perfect, but consistently yummy nonetheless. The best food items I reckon are the mac and cheese bites and halloumi bites.. so GOOD! Same with the mushroom pizza. Finally, the lamb salad is super good! Would recommend out of the Salads. The beef cheek also falls apart as you eat it! Yum! I find that the sweet potato chips can be soggy when you get them. Might ask for the salsa on the side when you get them! The food always comes pretty quick as well! No matter how busy they are. Yall do great! I love the variety of drinks here and also the walrus bar is an absolute gem. The girl who was working the walrus bar is a fantastic gal, an absolute gem also. Can't wait to come back! Overall, great place! The only downside I find is that the prices may be a little high and some food items aren't as good as others (not a big deal though) but that's it! Great venue and I definitely will be coming here as my choice in toowong.
