Orient Express — Restaurant in Byron Bay

I would like to leave an absolutely outstanding review for our experience at this wonderful restaurant. My absolute favorite was the dessert, the fried banana with ice cream. The contrast between the warm, crispy banana and the cold, creamy ice cream was a true delight for the taste buds. Every bite was a little piece of heaven!

But it wasn’t just the dessert that stood out—the entire culinary experience was fantastic. The food was of the highest quality, freshly prepared, and served with great attention to detail. You can immediately tell that the owner is truly passionate and dedicated to his restaurant. He prepares each meal with a deep love for what he does, and after speaking with him, it's clear how much this restaurant means to him and how deeply he loves his craft.

A special shout-out to Olivia and Fae, who took care of us throughout the evening. The service was exceptional. Both were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. You truly feel well taken care of and appreciated.

When we were living in Byron ,Orient express was for many many years our favourite restaurant ...Back after 6yrs of absence, we went last night with family and friends ..And It was still fabulous🤣🤣 Tipi is a fabulous chef: We enjoyed everything..The Octopus papaya salad, the pork and prawns Shu mai, the very generous Duck spring rolls (I was expecting tiny springs rolls so I ordered double served but they were gigantic so definitely 1 serve is enough for 4 !!!) Delicious.. We had the spectacular Crispy Barramundi served on a bed of beautiful fresh vegetables The King prawns sautées gorgeous, served with différents Mushrooms and again great veg and The service was perfect .He has a really good team..Nice range of great wines (reasonablypriced♥️and teas of course. Hate to write a bad review during this pandemic crisis as I realise it is difficult for restaurants but this restaurant take away food is terrible.. Purchased take away meals but the butter chicken was inedible it tasted like chicken cooked in vinegar, no other taste. Thought we would give the restaurant another try and told the person at the counter of our experience last time we purchased take away. We were told each meal was individually cooked and was assured it would not happen again. Wrong, once again could not eat two of the three meals. The beef dish was only fat, no meat just tasteless gravy with fat, the other was just terrible no taste at all. We heard good reports about this restaurant so not sure if they have a new chef or what has happened. The food is not restaurant quality, no taste to the meals, poor quality ingredients. The take away meals are between $20-$25 each so you are paying for a meal that should be edible. Do not waste your money, there are far better...
