Will not return here due to the rudeness of the older staff who should know better. We booked for a table of ten for my mothers 80th birthday and specifically asked for inside due to the last 5-6 days of rain. We also had my granddaughter who would want to be dancing to the wonderful 70’s band who we often go and see at other clubs. On arriving and finding our booking right outside next to the glass with wet seats and table, cold winds and nowhere near the music that we particularly asked to be able to be near, I went to the bar to tell the lady of the problem, She rudely pointed me to the older man and said ‘she has a problem with her seating’ His attitude towards me was terrible. I politely asked if we could find seating inside as it was wet and cold. He said it wasn’t his problem and I could go sit in the gambling bar with the high seats if I did t like it. I explained my mother was 80 and I have a three year old grandchild and he shrugged and continued to talk over me, saying ‘not my problem, I set the tables off the sheets’ o asked him to look at the sheets again as I spoke to the phone booking for some time requesting inside due to weather etc. he refused. I was not loud or rude at all and quietly asked if there was somewhere in the very large space that perhaps we could pull some tables together. Was it possible as it was only one o’clock that we might sit at empty reserved tables that were not coming in until 2 pm? His response had me in tears and we were about to leave when other family turned up from Brisbane. My daughter had spoken to every young person cleaning tables to ask them if they could help and luckily one of the lovely young girls places is inside without a single problem. On returning to the bar to get drinks for toasting, this older man literally glared at me when he saw we were inside and turned his back. Such a shame that some staff almost spoilt our whole afternoon. I hope these two people find some happy in their days or retire and leave their place of work for the younger, happier more obliging...

Whilst celebrating one of the most important days of our friends lives, we arrived at the venue early whilst waiting for the happy couple to arrive. We were told we had arrived “too early“ and “shouldn’t be here”. I’m sorry for trying to put extra money through your tills!
Once the newlyweds had arrived the party started and we were allowed into the reserved area. The one thing this place has going for it is its views of the sunset (the only thing the venue didn’t have to organise). A few of us went to the bar and all I can say is the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The worst of all (I later discovered) was the duty manager. Not only did he act like he didn’t want to be there, he was extremely aggressive in the way he spoke to my friends and I, even questioning if I was even part of the wedding.
We carried on with the night regardless and waited for the food to be served - Shouldn’t have bothered. The quality of food was nice, don’t get me wrong, but there was nowhere near enough of it. The best example of which is when they served up 2 fish for 150 people. It might have worked in the bible, but it didn’t work at Greenmount.
We thought more food would arrive - but we were wrong. We ended up going to a local take away shop for food as we were so hungry.
I will never return to this venue again and will be telling everyone I know to stay well...
Read moreI am writing to share my recent experience at the Surf Club restaurant, which was extremely disappointing. The restaurant manager, Candice, was by far the rudest and most unprofessional person I’ve ever encountered. It's beyond me why she continues to be employed there.
Our entire evening was ruined by her behaviour. When I approached the club manager, Marty, to express my dissatisfaction and request a refund for a ruined night, his response was no better. Saying he spoke to her. Yippee He was dismissive, rude, and failed to acknowledge the terrible service we received. It was clear that neither of them cared about our experience or the fact that we had an awful time at their establishment.
It’s truly unfortunate because there are many excellent restaurants in Coolangatta, and this one has clearly failed to live up to any standard of good service or quality. The food was also below par—quite frankly, it was awful.
Marty and Candice should be ashamed of their complete lack of communication, professionalism, and customer care. I sincerely hope the board members take this feedback seriously and review their staff's conduct. I will not be returning, and I advise others to think twice...
