Vanilla Lily — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I wish I could give Vanilla Lilly another half star, because they deserve it! This place was really humming when we arrived but our hosts made time to ensure we were comfortable. It was smaller than I expected but it has both indoor and outdoor dining and we were well catered for. I had booked for lunch for 5 then added another 2 on the day of our booking. Vanilla Lilly had a happening vibe to it... trendy music, sparkly clean, friendly faces... the menu provided easily for our varied needs with most dishes at $15.50. I chose Panko Crumbed Flathead and Chips and was delighted with the serving size and quality of the food. The fish was excellent and it was accompanied by a generous portion of herby aoli... a nice touch! One of my friends had a Mushroom Burger which she really enjoyed too.

So, why not 5 stars? Well... as a Queenslander in a Queensland eatery, I think it a crime to have a Milk Shake WITHOUT Malt! They had No Malt. You might smile and I might be wrong, but to me, that suggests that the proprietors have moved here from Down South! Am I right or wrong??? They surely can't have grown up with the richness and depth of flavour that malt adds.

We loved the airconditioned comfort inside, but the music made it difficult to Easily converse over. Other than those two negatives, we were really glad that we went. For me, it's more than a two hour journey to get there so it has to be good. I won't hesitate to recommend and return. Oh... and they have clean toilets nearby with access by a Code which they provide you... 4.5 Stars from me! Cheers... Chris Mathers. ...

I bought two coffees here, two days in a row. The first day was a Sunday morning & so busy that people were waiting for a seat. Good service and the coffee was strong & good value. Couldn’t see any good vegan options on the menu so I didn’t order a meal. The second visit was on Monday, the following day. Quiet as can be. Same friendly service, same order, but weak & watery. One day good, the next day bad. Three neutral stars seems fair. If you get some more vegan options, and get rid of those $4 hash browns then I may revisit...

Staff very polite and accommodating. They were flexible in allowing me to order off breakfast menu just out of allotted timeslot. The avo smash was plated creatively and the garnishes added to the flavour and texture so well. It was served with appropriate Cutlery so you could easily cut through the sour dough. The juice was refreshingly good, and alll juice, not all ice. Service was prompt and well priced. The kitchen puts live and attention into the food. Thank you for the nice surprise, great view...
