Danosi Kitchen — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

UPDATING REVIEW!!!! the below review is what i posted last year. HOWEVER, they have since redeemed themselves and honestly everyone deserves a second chance, especially if you have seen improvement. Since my last review, i continue to come here to see if anything has changed and to my surprise there has been. The lady at the counter is genuinely nice and actually smiling to customers that come in and extremely helpful. The sushi still good and honestly my favourite sushi place at the moment, especially their spicy grilled pork sushi roll 😍 the cooks are also amazing, i accidentally walked in as they were closing early and they still serviced me. You guys deserve more stars moving forward.

PREVIOUS REVIEW AND THEY HAVE IMPROVED!!! the sushi its self is good, could be better portions for the price though. However, your staff do need better training, they have no customer service and make customers feel yuck coming in. Not a welcoming environment yet the South Korean Cafe next door is absolutely stunning and the Owner of the cafe and staff are so amazing compared to here. The quality of the food has always been great & the service has been good as well. Both my fiancé & I firmly believe that this is the best sushi place in the area. However, I tried to go in tonight at 8:16pm. I was informed by a man working there that they are closed. I asked if he knew that on Google it says that they close at 9pm, which he said was correct. He explained that their last order was at 8:10pm. Come on, the last order is 50 minutes before closing? For a sushi restaurant? Honestly, that's a bit pathetic. I would understand if it was 10 or 20 minutes before closing, but not nearly an hour. I cannot find anything on their website which says if this is company policy or not, so I'm lead to believe that it's an arbitrary rule made up by the store. Which I hope is not true. So although overall the restaurant is good, there is clearly some questionable...

While the atmosphere yells JAPAN, the food does not live up to that standard. Ordered the ebi udon and the ebi (deep fried prawn) was crispy and pretty good. The udon noodles however were far too salty which I think was done to accommodate for the western palate. It is a shame because the amount that was given in the udon was substantial. I wasn't too impressed with the sushi tho, but a lot of places like these are quite average in regards to the sushi. Service on the other hand was quite good and prompt.
