Great toasties to get just by the beach. Ordered the JFC toastie, tiramisu coffee, and strawberry matcha cookie.
Their JFC has simple flavors that complements each aspects well. A sweet and salty soy chicken that is crisp, balanced well with the acidity of the Mayo. I didn’t really taste any apple slaw though.. but overall still really good.
The strawberry matcha cookie was a banger. Not overly sweet, very chunky and goes well with the cream cheese. The strawberry jam wasn’t really pronounced but it’s fine. I say that a matcha and cream instead of strawberry matcha cookie in itself is fine.
Lastly is their Tiramisu Coffee. I liked it at first but it got too sweet for me. I’ve tried my friends’ drinks (mont blanc, matcha, latte) as well and they are also really sweet. I think you could benefit for asking less sugar or the deli give you an option to choose how much sugar you want.
Overall, still a great place to dine in or take-out. We had ours to go and eat it by the beach!

Read moreThis has quickly become a favourite, before Janus came to surfers we rarely visited surfers but now we go most weekends to keep things spicy between visiting their equally incredible molendinar store. Great set up with plenty of seating & close to the beach or nearby bars, whatever tickles your fancy they’ve got it. The neon sign on the wall is so cute & their merch is on point. If you’re on the fence about trying give it a crack, you’ll be addicted too ♥️ honourable mention to our faves eats: the truffle mushy toastie, salad sanga (that kiwi mayo is just ahhh), hammy moment, grapefruit lemonade, affogato (perfect amount of ice cream to coffee ratio) & Ube donut. Read moreThey say food can’t fix everything. But I’d like those people to take one bite of the bacon and egg panini from Janus Deli and then look me in the eyes and say that again.
This wasn’t breakfast. This was recovery. This panini gently reached into my soul, cracked open a dusty box of childhood memories, and said, “Hey… remember joy?”
The egg? Runny enough to spark a gentle tear. The sweet tomato relish with hash brown and rocket? I saw colour more vividly. I heard birdsong where there was silence. I remembered the smell of my grandma’s kitchen.
At one point, I was pretty sure I unlocked 100% of my brain. I solved three of my personal problems and accepted inner peace, all before I even finished the first half.
Janus, whatever you’re doing back there behind the counter… don’t stop. This isn’t just food. It’s a borderline religious experience pressed between two slices of toasted bread. Would I recommend? Only if you’re ready...
