We were not greeted at the door. We were standing around until we seated ourselves, then the waitress finally acknowledged us. The "Wagyu beef" is NOT Wagyu beef. The meat is tender used by loosely cutting it on the surface in a criss-cross motion which is a sure sign that the meat was average quality. The food is ridiculously expensive, they expect you to pay around $20 per meat plate which essentially consists of a raw steak for you to cut up with a pair of scissors and place it on the grill to cook yourself (do not be disgruntled by the fact you use scissors or have to cook it yourself, it is traditionally done in Korea and japan). 6.The Asahi beers were $8 each... Though I guess they need to make a profit. Unlike every other authentic restaurant, they do NOT offer water for the table, even though there is a strong risk of choking on your food if you eat rice or large portions of meat. The staff were relatively friendly, although customer service did NOT at all seem to be a priority there (this is NOT Korean culture). Overall the food wasn't terrible. It actually tasted quite good, but for $102, for a meat set, rice and 2 beers (as per picture, without rice), we will definitely not be returning there.
This place seriously needs to re-evaluate their pricing and their customer service skills. I can not fault them for cleanliness or food safety as all the food did seem to be fresh and the shop was clean.
BBQ Villiage, if you are reading this, you CAN NOT charge such a high amount of money and give such a low standard of service, this is totally unacceptable! If you had amazing customer service (solely), my review would have been very different.
Great customer service is what makes customers forget about the pricing, if a customer enjoys themselves thoroughly, they won't care about the money and they will come back with their friends and family. These are the most BASIC fundementals of business!
Sort yourselves out or you will end...
Read moreI went there for lunch today, had the WORST experience of my life. I have been a regular customer since they opened. Today i brought my whole family there for lunch. Serving us were the owners of the shop. We came in set down first asking for some hot or warm water for my 2 year old, the lady owner told us they had no hot water, then my wife said its for the kid, the responce we got was "korean bbq restaurants only serve cold beverage" I asked 3 times for cold water, was ignored, had to get my own at the end.
Then we started ordering, we had a bbq set, as we picked our choice the lady owner tells us they dont have the one we want, then while we picking another option she started to become really impatient, asking us if we were ready to order. We had our choices picked only because she didnt tell us what she didnt have on the menu. The the most REDICULOUS part came after we started eating, when you have a 2 year old, he would be dropping food on the floor as he eats, thats common sence. But the owners were really bugged about it. She came over while we were eating and told us to not step on any of the food on the floor, then at the end when i got my check, both of them owners said "YOUR BABYS RUBBISH ON THE FLOOR, CLEAN IT UP!"(it was only a little bit of rubbish, not like a big mess or anything) This is the most disgusting experience ive had in my life. I mean if you dont know how to respect your customers, might as well just close...
Read moreI have been to this place for quite a few times. Enjoyed the food there for sure and five star for the product no doubt. I would just like to address a couple of unpleasant things that happened to my most recent visit because I really wish this place can keep offering customers with what they have been doing. I could read from the face of the owners there, that they are tired, and bit sick of repetitive activities year after year. Hospitality, especially on the coast, is just as important as your great food. If anyone believes that people would keep paying you solely for the food, and despite of how the service and attitude is, he is damn wrong. There are just too many similar options not far from your place. I really appreciated it when the front house lady approached us and ask if we were sure that we'd like chilli paste for soup, and recommended that chilli flakes or powder would be better. After specifying 3 times that we just need chilli paste because that was our choice, she walked away, unhappy, and finally brought what we asked for. Please, just respect your customers' choice if you've already make recommendations. I appreciate the first time when you asked, but all three times after that, it was very very rude. I'm sorry. Still a 5 star for you. Beautiful food...
