Second time I've been. The first time, I went (last night) half an hour before closing time, and they were closed. Tonight, when I went, the place was filthy and only had 1 young lady on the floor, and she was run off her feet. She was doing great. The young girl on coffees seemed quite attentive to customers, and even though she was getting smashed, she could still give a smile to her customers. The other 2 working behind the counter was as slow as a wet weekend. The girl who served us said we are only doing take away. Which was fine by me as I was getting take away but didn't understand why. Google said they shut at 11pm. It was before 9pm. I did ask when they shut and she asked the guy who was behind the counter with her and he said 10pm. A little bit earlier he said out loud 'no more shakes for the night'. This was a bit annoying as my partner wanted a shake but he just went down the road and got one so no biggy. I got the vibe they wanted to get the cleaning done earlier so they can get out of there earlier. I ordered 3 kids waffles one without ice cream. After a 30 - 40 min wait we got the goods but just doubled checked that there was ice cream and there wasn't. The lady that served us then was lovely and asked the guy that we wanted the ice cream and there was none. He said I just don't have take away containers for ice cream as he proceeded to get the take away containers for ice cream. Made no sense. It's like he just wanted to be mad about something. He definitely didn't want to be there. I understand that it was quite busy and they cater to the food delivery services also but I also watched a line build up because no one was serving for a massive amount of time but there were 3 people behind the counter and 1 on the floor. All 4 servers were young. It seemed like no one was actually in charge to allocate workers to areas that needed it the most. There were 2 good workers...
Read moreI’ve got to say the customer service made me feel really comfortable. I talked to the guy with blonde hair who knew a lot about the products and said he’ll adjust my drink because I mentioned I didn’t things too sweet while we were talking. He had great customer server skills too.
When us girls were sitting down a weird homeless looking guy started to unpack his things right next to us when there were a lot of empty tables in the rest of the place (because Surfers has pretty creepy people and it was at night time haha)
I didn’t mind but made my friends uncomfortable and we gave each other a look 😂 The same worker said hello to him in a friendly way and started to chat like they knew each other though probably noticing our discomfort suggested other tables to sit at and said he had to buy something if he wanted to sit there. After a while he started to get cozy and put his things right next to us which made us all just sit there in silence awkwardly looking at each other.
The worker who notified this went out of his way to really drill to that guy that there were all these empty tables (with charging sockets) on the other side of the room so please move as he was making us girls uncomfortable and that he needed to buy something to use the facility there with a very assertive tone.
I thought the worker showed a lot of integrity and courage and support here since he obviously saw we were uncomfortable as he could’ve easily shown a blind eye like a lot of people would have done who don’t care. And even if the worker did care they might not have had the courage to speak so directly. So I think this should be pointed out and given credit to.
Also the other girl with long blonde hair who had a maybe New Zealand accent was also very considerate and sensitive to our needs too when delivering our food and taking the...
Read moreI am deeply disappointed by the recent events that unfolded at Max Brenner in Chevron Renaissance Shopping Center, prompting me to give this establishment a one-star review. If you're looking for a place that tolerates racism and turns a blind eye to offensive behavior, then Max Brenner Surfers Paradise might be the spot for you.
Regrettably, I visited Max Brenner during a time when a group of racists were allowed by the shopping center's security to plaster appalling racist posters all over the windows. What adds insult to injury is that Max Brenner's own staff seemed indifferent to the offensive content and did not take any action to remove or condemn it.
Even worse, when patrons like myself expressed our outrage and attempted to address the issue, the staff at Max Brenner did nothing to stand against the offensive material. It's disheartening to witness a place that prides itself on providing a pleasant atmosphere and delicious treats turn a blind eye to such blatant acts of hate.
As of now, more than 36 hours later, those offensive posters are still on display, tarnishing the image of Max Brenner and contributing to an atmosphere of hostility and division. I find it absolutely unacceptable that Max Brenner Surfers Paradise, as a part of Chevron Renaissance Shopping Center, has failed to take a stand against racism and promote a safe and inclusive environment.
I urge patrons to think twice before supporting an establishment that lacks the courage to condemn and rectify such despicable acts. There are numerous other places in Surfers Paradise that prioritize inclusivity and respect, making Max Brenner an unfortunate choice for those seeking a welcoming and...
