We recently had dinner at Priya’s Indian Restaurant in Surfers Paradise after spotting it during an evening walk. The place had a calm vibe, maybe a bit too quiet — only one or two other tables were occupied when we arrived.
The restaurant looked clean and nicely set up, but it lacked a bit of energy. The staff were polite and welcoming, though the manager or owner (we weren’t sure which) seemed a little down or distracted — not rude at all, just distant, which made the atmosphere feel slightly off.
We ordered a mix of dishes — butter chicken, garlic naan, lamb rogan josh, and some rice. The food was okay, but nothing particularly stood out. Flavours were mild and a bit on the safe side. If you’re expecting rich, bold Indian spices, you might find it underwhelming. The butter chicken had a creamy texture but lacked depth, and the lamb was a bit dry. The naan was fresh and warm, probably the best part of the meal.
Portion sizes were decent, and the prices were reasonable considering it’s located in a tourist-heavy area. Still, compared to other Indian restaurants we’ve been to, it didn’t leave a strong impression.
Service was quick and efficient, and the staff were very respectful. However, with the restaurant being quiet, it felt like it needed a bit more life or engagement to make guests feel welcome. Maybe we just came on an off night.
The menu had a good variety of vegetarian and non-veg options, so that’s a plus for different tastes. But overall, the food felt average, and the atmosphere a bit flat. Not a bad experience, just not memorable either.
If you’re in Surfers Paradise and craving Indian food, Priya’s might do the job for a simple meal — but if you’re after something vibrant and full of flavour, you might want to explore a few other options...
Read moreWorst experience, i ever had. we been to there tonight for dinner. It was about 9:30 and lady ask us to sit on the table of 4 because we were 4 people. we placed the order and food took 20 mins to get ready, which is normal waiting period. we asked for the mild to med noodles and they serve us really mild, not taste at all. we been to there more than 5 times as we all live locals. All the time had differnet taste of noodles. The customer service was really bad today. The lady who serve us, was waiting us to leave. and it was about 10 o'clock. And while having food, she came to us and asked us, Did you finish? Even she notice, we all was having food that time and even they served us 15 mins before. It is a common sense of a person, how someone can finish food between 15 mins and how a wait person can come to the table and ask them to finish their food quickly because they are waiting to close. First of all, if you want to close at 10:00 o'clock, then you shouldn't take any order or dine in as well. It was the really really worst experience tonight. The customer service need to be improved and specially the waitress who serve tonight, it not deserve the job of customer serive because she is not able to do it perfectly. Not...
Read moreVery disappointing to see how the quality of good is getting worse in this restaurant. The service is quick, but please pay attention to quality of food. From my recent experience I can say the Hyderabad Chicken Dum Biriyani was full of just gravy. More than half of the Biriyani pot was filled with thick gravy which you just can’t eat. You are just making fun of Dum Biriyani with that kind of presentation. Onion Bhaji. Do you call that an Onion Bhaji? It looks and tastes like extra fried charred bhaji. The staff was polite enough to offer another plate of if I had told her before. But common, I don’t have to tell you. Just look at it before you serve. It’s absolutely not edible. Gobi 65 with gravy was average. Butter naan and garlic naan was good. Ambience is average. It’s in a busy area, so understandable. Parking is an issue on weekends. Bruce Bishop Car Park may be a right option instead of roaming around for parking spot.
Just another suggestion. When we order soft drinks, don’t just give us a can. Charge a dollar more, pour the same Bundaberg Lemon Lime Bitters in glass with ice. Doesn’t that look better than a can?
Hope the quality of food and presentation gets...
