The activities at Hi Jinx Hotel were genuinely fun. The hotel game, themed mini golf, and arcade were all really enjoyable. The staff member running the Hotel game was excellent as he explained everything clearly and made sure we were taken care of.
The food and bar service did not match the same standard. We were told we would receive 10% off food and drinks but when ordering we ran into problems. The menu listed a deal for 2 tacos and chips at $29 but the first bartender told us it was only available online even though nothing on the physical menu suggested that. After asking again another staff member was able to process the deal but it created unnecessary confusion.
When ordering drinks I noticed alcohol being free poured without a jigger which came across as unprofessional. When my order was finalized the 10% discount was not applied. Later when we asked about buying some fortune cookies the bartender responded with “You know I can’t give you these all for free” even though we had already said we would pay for them.
Food service was also slow. We were told 20 minutes but it took closer to 40 without any updates. The onion rings were $13 for a very small bowl and they seemed to be from a frozen packet so serving a bit more would not cost much. They also forgot one of our sauces. When I followed up they forgot again! Then after finish my food already I quickly remembered about the sauce. We booked 10 rooms for 3:00pm, accidentally mistook our booking for 3:30pm so we called Hijinx Hotel Customer Service just after 3:00pm, and apologised, advised our apartment is a 2 minute walk from Hijinx and asked if we can still come. We were told that we’d be fine and they have rescheduled it for 3:30pm for us so that we don’t have to rush. Took our time, arrived for a 3:30pm booking and were told at the front counter that the 3:30pm booking was completely sold out and we had actually been moved to 4:00pm and there’s nothing we can do about it. Tried to argue to point, advising that we were just on the phone with them and were told we were to come at 3:30pm, to which we were told “they are our working from home people we have nothing to do with them”. This is absolutely deflecting the blame and extremely poor customer service. No apologies, no understanding at all. We arrived and was told we can't start the challenge rooms even though we had a pre booking and it was paid for. We were waiting and waiting and then they said we missed it even though we were there in time. We were pushed back 1 hour. One of the lades said can we come back another day? on our staff Christmas party? We had 3 delays with food. Any questions majority of the staff didn't know where to go, what to do, how to make a drink. I had to follow up 3 times for food. First time they said we didn't have an order in. We did and they finally found it. Second time they missed the time frame and had to go back into the rooms so didn't get to eat lunch till 315pm when we ordered at 1230. 2 of the 5 challenge rooms had broken buttons/games which means we couldn't get a clear score for the teams.
