I have been coming here for years, and I've had a different experience each time some good and some very sad... I felt totally ripped off and honestly don't want to ever go back...
Today unfortunately was one of those sad days, our bill was around $130 and they werent even as busy ss they normally are and I had called ahead and we were told 20 mins which ended up being 40mins... which I can understand and I honestly didn't mind waiting thinking it will be worth the wait... It was super disappointing...
We asked for barramundi but were told they had none so we asked for snapper, now they do fish and chip meal deal for $10 but we were charged $12.50 for each snapper so it was $50 for 4 pieces of snapper we had 2 decent pieces and 2 really small pieces (which was ok I guess because I gave 1 to my son & 1 gluten free one was for my puppy) and all of the pieces were over cooked and dry...
We also purchased 6 prawn skewers and they had 4 prawns which were fairly small but were cooked properly and tasted ok they were $7 each which worked out to $42 in total...
$4.50 for a 600ml bottle of Coke and $4.50 for a 600ml bottle of Sunkist so $9 for that... Am I going mad or is that a ridiculous price for 2 drinks... $2 x 2 small containers of tartare sauce $1 each for 2/3 full small containers of sweet chilli and BBQ sauce and we got gravy for $4 which looked like it was that premix stuff that just needed water added and it had a weird after taste... ewww it was thrown away...
The garlic cheese bread was nice but way to salty and they were $5 each x 2 so $10 for that and lastly large chips apparently more then enough for 4 people $7 for a large serve, not a chance it was such a small serve refer...
Read moreEDIT: I have to edit the original comment as I cannot reply. Funny that you tell me to stand in the back shed to confirm the freshness of your product but when I made the trip all the way back there (1.5 hour drive) I was rudely told by an aggressive employee that in fact I was not allowed to stand in the shed and they refused to confirm the freshness of your product. I was then also threatened with physical violence.
As soon as I parked I was Interrogated by an aggressive staff member who ran up to ask about why I was parking in the stores parking lot, after answering that I was here to purchase some seafood he abruptly walked away and I saw him walk over and start talking to a group of people sitting near the back shed and they were all watching me enter the store with angry looks on their faces. I got inside the shop and was immediately shocked by what I saw and smelled. All of the fish fillets are rotten, slimy and smell horrible. I'm not surprised considering that their whole fish are old and slimy with milky eyes as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they were cheap, frozen imported product being sold at premium prices like literally everything else on display including the prawns. On top of all that the staff are extremely rude and racist and there is a general bad vibe around the store, as if none of them even care at all. The kitchen staff (who are visible from the shop) all looked greasy and unwashed and I definitely would not want to eat anything that came out of a kitchen that filthy. After finally giving it a go it's rather disappointing to find out that the supposedly great seafood market from the bus advertisements that I see all the time on the Gold Coast is just a...
