My recent visit to Holy Ship at Main Beach, Gold Coast, was nothing short of phenomenal. Located on Marina Mirage, Holy Ship offers a unique dining experience aboard refurbished trawlers, FV Havana and Austral Eagle, providing an exceptional atmosphere with a 360-degree view of the sparkling Broadwater.
From the moment we arrived, the excitement began with the anticipation of dining on a boat. Walking up to the trawlers and stepping aboard, we were immediately struck by the vibrant, nautical-themed decor and the immaculate cleanliness of the entire establishment. The atmosphere was both welcoming and enchanting, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The highlight of our meal was the Snapper, presented on the seasonal menu. The fish was tender and flaky, cooked to perfection, and accompanied by a delightful rocket side salad that added a peppery freshness. The dish was enhanced with a touch of lemon and fennel, which added a bright and aromatic quality that perfectly complemented the natural flavours of the fish.
We also indulged in a combo of Holy Ship oysters, Moreton Bay bugs, and prawns. The oysters were particularly noteworthy – large, smooth, and undeniably fresh, shucked to order, providing a briny burst of flavour that was a testament to their quality. The bugs were sweet and tender, and the prawns were succulent and juicy, each bite revealing the high standard of seafood Holy Ship prides itself on.
The salmon sashimi was another standout. Each slice was rich and buttery, melting in the mouth with a pure, clean taste that highlighted the high-quality fish. This dish was a perfect example of how simplicity, when done right, can be incredibly luxurious.
The tear-apart loaf with balsamic-style vinegar and olive oil was a delightful addition to our meal. The bread was warm and crusty, perfect for soaking up any leftover sauces, and the combination of the balsamic vinegar and olive oil added a deliciously rich and tangy flavour.
A special mention goes to Yvette, one of the owners, and Skyler, our server. Yvette personally greeted us and shared insights about the restaurant’s history and their commitment to fresh, local seafood. Skyler’s exceptional service and attention to detail ensured that our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. She provided comfort on a cold night with heaters and clean blankets, making sure we were warm and cosy throughout our meal.

Read moreAre you tired of the ordinary? Are you in need of a change of pace that combines great food with great scenery? Do you love seafood? Well, I've got the perfect place for you to visit! Holy Ship is a former prawn trawlers that has been converted ti a lovely seafood restaurant. Maybe I should mention that they do more than seafood for those folks out there who might be turning up their noses. But the star of the menu is definitely the prawns, bugs, oysters, and salmon! And boy-oh-boy... is it fresh! The boats have two levels for seating and the tables are arranged with bench seating to accommodate larger parties. This is an ideal way to cap a busy day at the office or an excellent way to start a night on the town. You can take advantage of their Happy Hour specials on drinks and ½ price oysters - a can't miss!
The staff are super friendly, attentive, and they do their best to get your food and drinks to you quickly. This could take longer when they are packed but it is well worth the wait.

Read moreMe and my girlfriend visited the Holy Ship on our sunny day off. It was easy to access with public transportation, bus stop right outside the marina building. We were greeted with warm welcome and a smile, we had the option to sit downstairs or upstairs. We chose to sit downstairs for our food. Our server Kyle was quick to ask if we would like any drinks to start. I went for a beer and my girlfriend a hard rated. The drinks were served in a holy ship cup which was great as it kept them ice cold. We then ordered a margarita pizza, trawler prawns, oysters and a garlic bread. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing, the best I’ve had! We couldn’t get over the garlic bread so we had to order another. After finishing our food we headed upstairs to take in the scenery. We continued to order drinks while enjoying the scenery, Kyle making sure we always had a drink. In all a great experience in a clean, friendly and welcoming environment. Would 100% recommend to anyone, even if you don’t like seafood the pizzas will impress. Thanks to Kyle and the team for making it a...
