Shiro Gelato Shack - Gold Coast: A Cool Haven of Sweet Delights

Nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast, Shiro Gelato Shack offers a refreshing escape for both locals and tourists alike. The moment you step in, you're greeted with a vibrant and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by the friendly staff who are always eager to help you choose from their extensive range of flavours.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the gelato itself. Shiro Gelato Shack serves up creamy gelato with a delightful array of flavours, from classic options like Hokkaido Milk and Black Sesame to more adventurous ones like Hojicha Oreo and Miso Caramel. Each scoop is rich, flavourful, and well-balanced, making it hard to stop at just one. The ingredients are clearly of high quality, with a distinct freshness that sets their gelato apart from others in the area.

Their portion sizes are generous, and they offer various serving options, including cones and cups making it perfect for a quick treat or a dessert to savour at home. The gelato shack is well-positioned along the coast, making it an ideal stop for a cool treat after a day at the beach.

Though seating can be limited during peak hours, Shiro Gelato Shack is more of a grab-and-go spot, which adds to its casual charm. If you’re in the Gold Coast and craving a sweet, creamy indulgence, Shiro Gelato Shack is definitely worth a visit.

Rating: 5/5 Pros: Delicious gelato, friendly service, wide range of flavours Cons: Limited seating...

Shiro’s has such a lovely beautiful vibe to it, finding this place was a real delight. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, from taking the order and checking the order before processing, to explaining the various things on the menu.

We got a matcha daifuku and 3 onigiri to share (miso pork, tori tama and a classic tuna&mayo).

The matcha daifuku was soft and fluffy and gummy and smooth, and the matcha flavour was exactly what I’d expect for a green tea flavoured thing, it was beautiful.

The onigiri - the tori tama packed a flavourful punch and the miso pork was a subtle but nice taste. I’m a sucker for the tuna mayo though, it’s a classic flavour and having this again reminded me of my trip to Japan.

The cost was probably a bit spenny but what do you expect, we’re in a cost of living crisis. For all the reviews complaining about the pricing, remember that this place is not just the food but it’s people, and they need to cover the costs of not just the food they create but of their employees too. I can’t afford to eat there every day but I’m happy to pay for their bloody great onigiri and gelato.

I’ll definitely be back many times in the future to try all the remaining gelato flavours and combinations, and all the onigiri flavours. Thank...

I had to work hard to find this place, but the reward in the end was worth it 👌

The Google Maps location pin for Shiro was in the wrong place, taking me to the back of the block rather than the front. Even when I got to the right street I kept missing the shopfront because I was looking for the name, only realising later that the shop sign is only a logo with no words.

Anyways I eventually found it and we decided on a hojicha Oreo gelato ($7) with the daifuku (mochi wrap) option (+$1). This was skilfully made into a spherical shape that was just the right size to fit in the cup.

Wifey thought the hojicha flavour was one of the best she's had, and we enjoyed the pairing with the mochi to give it a different texture and add some playfulness.

We stayed a while at one of the few tables available to enjoy our dessert and soak up some of the Japanese vibes from the shop. Whilst I can now get similar items closer to home in Brisbane I feel it's still worth visiting the OG mochi gelato (for south east Queensland) if you get the chance. I'll be back the next time I'm in the Southport area to try their onigiri and probably more gelato.

NB. I've since updated the Google Maps listing so you should be able to find it more...

(not halal) so nice i had to go back the second time in 3 days span!! i found this place on instagram and it lived up to the hype. the cafe overall was so dainty and adorable, there's always people coming in but never too big of a line. the staff was really cute as well she was very welcoming! i got 2 originis & a hojicha latte, i got spicy tuna and mentai- there are more flavour available however it didn't suit my dietary restrictions so i had to opt for these two. tuna was as good as it could get, they're not the cheap ones u can get from convenient store but rather more handmade and makes u feel homey(iykyk)😍 however as much as i love mentai, ratio was a bit off therefore it was really salty(i eat heavily seasoned food so it was really salty). but overall id give them a solid 8, can't imagine how good it'd be if it was other filling i came back to try their strawberry hojicha- honestly im not a fan but if you love strawberry milk you would looooove this one, it overpowered the hojicha so if you prefer the tea flavour, id say just get the regular hojicha latte!

Wow! We are visiting from Melbourne and found out abt this place from Tiktok - we spent like $70 but that's only bc we wanted to try everything 🍙🍦 we got two double scoops of ice cream, 7x onigiris & the mixed set of the warabi mochi! Also, the customer service of the two girls at the front was incredible. So lovely! We tried the matcha, houjicha and Hokkaido gelato flavours - all were amazing, the matcha flavour in particular had a nice authentic bitterness without it being too bitter! We are still working through our onigiris but for now we have been pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the miso and the takana onigiri! We highly recommend ppl to try the warabi mochi, so soft and each of the flavours went so well on their own as well as with that soy syrup 🍡 Getting to Shiro Gelato is quite easy for us tourists as it is just across from Southport light rail stop :) We are so glad we were able to visit Shiro Gelato before we left GC ☺️ Thanks for making our last night here a yummy one hehe
