Disappointing Experience – Poor Service & Mediocre Food
I was really looking forward to trying Yankees Restaurant and Bar in Surfers Paradise, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.
From the moment we arrived, the service was lacking. The staff at the door barely greeted us, just vaguely pointed toward the tables, and quickly handed us menus before disappearing. It was nearly impossible to get their attention after that. We sat for almost 20 minutes without being acknowledged, and I was about to get up to find someone when a staff member finally came over to take our order.
When the food finally arrived, it was a mess. One meal came out first, and the rest of us (five people) had to wait another 10-15 minutes, by which time the first meal was already cold and soggy. To make matters worse, my burger arrived incorrectly despite the waitress confirming my small modification twice. Then, after waiting so long for our meals, my partner's dish was still missing and took an extra 10 minutes to arrive.
The food itself was barely okay—not terrible, but nothing special. The drinks were also pretty average. Given the price point ($20+ for a burger), I expected much better quality, especially since the service was so poor. If the staff isn’t going to deliver a good dining experience, the food should at least be exceptional, but unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Overall, a very underwhelming experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it. There are far better places in Surfers Paradise where you’ll get decent food and good service for...
Read moreHello fello food lovers. My wife and I went to the Gold Coast 11th to 15th July for our daughters Acro National Championships. We stayed at the Q1 29th floor ocean views it was awesome. For a birthday dinner my wife and daughter arranged a dinner at The Yankees Restaurant. We had the 20 wings Buffalo Sauce, the Scotch Fillet and the Rump Steak. What can I say about this, the food was nice but was it worth the money. I would have to say no. The steaks were done to perfection and tasty, and the wings were very nice. What lets them down is the veggies on the side were very poor and little of them, they put the steak on the mash Potatoe and squashed it into the mash. The other thing is the atmosphere was nonexistent. The lights were up full bore and there were not many people in there when we went. I am not saying it is like that all the time as we have only been the once. And the price will not be for everyone. With what we ate plus 2 cocktails, 1 soft drink and three pints it was up to $270. I liked my wings, but I would have to say I would not go back there again. We went to an Italian Restaurant on the Gold Coast had really great food, cocktails, beer and soft drink for $170 and it was packed and full of atmosphere. Value for money I would go back to the...
Read moreI don't even know where to start with this review, the service was so bad I'm left speechless.
To start, the waiter takes our order using an old fashioned pen and paper, they then proceeded to go to the screen to print out the docket.
Within 4 minutes our drinks arrived, ordering a coke, pint of ale, and mug of green coast. However, upon receiving our drinks we realized that both drinks were given in pint glasses. We did say it was ok as it was an honest mistake however we were slightly disappointed as the reviews were very high.
After this, we waited 45 minutes before asking where our food was. To which they responded with "we never gave the chef the docket, they're making it now." Already we were starting to get annoyed. But we thought 'ok well at least the wait won't be much longer' but we couldn't have been more wrong. We had to wait another 25 minutes for anything to come out.
We proceeded to eat our food (which was sub-par for the time we waited) however thought 'ok the worst part was over'
Upon paying for our bill we quickly realized an extra $2 had been charged for no reason, after asking the waiter what the charge was she says 'I don't know' and removes the charge.
From start to finish this was a bad experience. Don't trust the...
