I prefer Centrepoint to park in more than Argyle Street. It’s less gloomy and the lifts are cleaner as are the toilets. You can get a meal underneath or a coffee, and it’s closer to the part of the city I mostly use. As a pensioner I can get weekly tickets for all City Car Parks owned by the Hobart City Council that give me 4 hours of free parking. You just take your pension card and car registration into the HCC along with your car registration and you can get 52 tickets for the year. They’re issued for the financial year. When you use your ticket though, you must validate it with the attendant at the desk in each car park as the automated ticket machine will charge full rates.
All car park users get the first 90 minutes free. I didn’t need to validate my ticket under that time, but it’s a good idea to anyway. I’d hate to hold up cars in a line. 🚗 🚙 🚗 🚙 🚗 😳 😬 We need to support our local businesses to keep them going or we shall lose even more stores than we already have. Try to shop local rather than online. - most people still want to try things on - especially shoes...
Read moreWould always park in Centrepoint carpark due to the ease of getting in and leaving until recently. Centrepoint closes at 5pm and we had stayed in the shops in the mall until they closed and made our way back to our car seeing the carpark closed at 5.15pm… went to MULTIPLE car park entrances and they were all locked. Literally had to run the block and walk up the drive in ramp in fear of not being able to access our car and having to pay a fee to get it out. If a car park closes at 5.15pm the access to the carpark and it’s payment points should be open until then too. Really disappointing and stressful experience. Thankful I’m not disabled or with a child at the time or my car definitely would have...
Read moreIt may be convenient, but make sure you get back well before closing time. If a sign says shut at 5:15, I should be able to get to my car at 5pm. To get my car out I had to call to get somebody to let me in/out. To top it off, they would only accept cash for this privilege, so in the torrential rain I was expected to find an eftpos machine because the HCC are so backward and stupid (doing Tassie proud here crew) to realise that there have been mobile card payment options available for many a year now. I opted for an uber home instead. The bill for the Uber ride is in the...
