🔥 MUST-TRY in Launceston: Olde Tudor Bakery - Hidden Gem Alert!

The coffee itself might be fine, but the service and product quality were extremely disappointing. First, I was charged $5.90 for a large long black, despite the price board clearly showing $5.40. When I politely pointed this out, the cashier explained it was due to the size of the takeaway cup is bigger than mug. While I understood the reason, I suggested they display this unusual surcharge somewhere, as it’s not common practice here. However, the truly unpleasant part happened immediately after I asked about the fee. Before I even paid, the manager interjected with a loud, aggressive, and blaming tone, stating, "OUR PRICE IS RIGHT! JUST THE EXTRA COST DIDNT SHOW ON THE BORAD!" Blaming a customer for simply asking a reasonable question about an unlisted fee is poor hospitality and completely unacceptable. I was not arguing the price, only seeking clarity. Adding to the poor experience, the lid didn't fit the cup well at all, and the coffee kept leaking even when it was just sitting stationary on the table.

Customer service here is horrible and the vanilla slice tastes like onions If you like being ignored and spoken to rudely, this is the place for you. I would love to have a conversation with the manager or the owner about culture of rudeness within this cafe. From reading other reviews it’s not just me and seems to be a trend.

We both have been a fan of this bakery for literally years, however our recent encounter has left us really disappointed. Walked in as usual and as this has never been a restaurant only a bakery sat down at an available table. We were greeted by a very rude waitress named Ellie who told us next time to stand and wait for her direction! We are in our 50s and spoken to like we were naughty 12 year olds! There was no sign or area designated for this order that was rudely insisted upon us. If we had done something blatantly wrong I could understand however this was just disgusting customer service which I'm so glad this incompetent employee doesn't work with me. Needless to say...

Ordered ham& cheese croissant & coffee, received my coffee as ordered within minutes, waited, waited watched staff having a very in-depth conversation- one member with pr of tongs in her hand whilst talking-no orders being cooked- 10 minutes went by and staff decided to put a order in microwave- not mine- I went to counter asked for refund, I was told they had a lot of orders- yes I could see that, but that was because they were too busy in conversation and nothing was going to tables. Then to ad insult to my experience my refund was given to me...
