Through a system error when booking a room for one person with Qantas, I ended up with two rooms at the Warratah - both paid for. I only found out the evening I was arriving (because of dozens of travel booking emails in my inbox) when rang ahead (. I told them I thought I only booked one room. They were very unhelpful, wouldn't refund me for one of them, and pointed to their cancellation policy. I rang Qantas, who were very helpful. They contacted the Warratah but were also told the Warratah wouldn't budge from their policy.

Now, I understand they can't rebook the room at such short notice and they'd be out of pocket but so am I through a system error. Any understanding or offering of anything to ease the annoyance of paying twice for an 'ok' room, would have been appreciated from the Warratah.

The moral of the story is that their policies are more important to them than their guests. If you make a mistake by not triple checking your bookings for system booking errors, they'll leave you...

Gorgeous! A tad hard to find the first time round as it's down a side narrow steep street bit well worth it. Wouldn't advise it for those without transport as nothing within walking distance. Hotel itself gives off very Edwardian English vibes with high beds and old bathrooms. Very comfy. It was easy to check in and out. Another hotel downs the steps opposite which holds more modern rooms and where breakfast is located in morning. I would say they need to set out the breakfast room a bit better. Quite cramped considering how popular it is. Hotel has all amenities you would need. Only negative really is that Launceston is boring as hell. Everything shuts down at 4pm and there is nothing to do or see really. We were lucky we only came here for the airport...

I had an amazing time and experience staying at Waratah. Great location, walking distance to parks, CBD, best cafes and restaurants. The staff were amazing, warm and friendly and made great recommendations on activities to do in the city of Launceston. The hotel and the room itself were exceptional. Historic building with a unique character and charm to it. The room was cosy, newly renovated with exceptionally clean bathroom & shower and fully equipped with all the necessary amenities and vanities. Great experience, would definitely recommend this place to anyone planning on visiting Launceston. Ps:Just be mindful that the building has 2 access options, if you wish to avoid a steep walk uphill, make your way to York street and you are all set for an...

We stayed at Waratah on York in the King Suite with a bath and it was honestly perfect. The room was spacious, cozy, and beautifully designed. The highlight for us was definitely the bath and the little sitting area next to it. It felt private and peaceful, with gorgeous views of the city. Sitting there with a drink and just watching the city was such a relaxing way to unwind. The hotel has a lovely heritage feel, everything is clean, well-kept, and really comfortable. Staff were friendly, and the whole experience felt easy and welcoming. It’s a beautiful place and a great choice if you're looking for comfort, and a touch of luxury in Launceston.

Love it. We stayed in the 3-bedroom apartment. We arrived late, the check-in was easy through locked box. We walked in from the cold evening to a toasty warm apartment. Stylishly furnished, the lounges are really comfortable. The ceilings are soooo high. It makes the rooms feel huge. Its quiet, great views across the river and paddocks. Convenient location. Highly recommend. Great price for a well-sized apartment. Only thing to note- lots of stairs. So if mobility is an issue I wouldn't recommend.
