Pros: The receptionists were friendly and willing to help. The bathroom was spacious. A purple pen was provided in our room so that I could write my postcard, which was good.
Cons: I can't believe that the overall Google star rating of this hotel is 4.3/5 which is definitely overrated! I should have read the negative reviews from xripadvisor before my stay at this hotel. I have no idea how often the housekeepers clean the rooms and change the bed sheets/linens but the carpet in our room DO need a deep clean(to vacuum)! Or at least they should vacuum the carpet more often. I could always feel some fleas/mites jumping on my feet and legs every night. I tried to ignore them but unfortunately I had flea bites! This made me feel itchy and painful! On top of that, the wall light switches were covered with dust. It's funny that the hotel restaurant (Titanium Bar and Bistro) isn't open at lunchtime. What if the hotel guests feel hungry and want to have a proper lunch? The pillows were incredibly high, which wasn't comfy. The fixed showerhead was quite inconvenient - I prefer a hand shower. Dental kits and slippers weren't provided. We had to go to a supermarket to buy them and it took us 10 minutes to get there. Our room faced the car park so we were woken up by the noise (may be a rubbish truck) very early in...

Had our car broken into just after sunset (~8:30PM) and valuables stolen in the hotel carpark - something which has occurred multiple times at Hotel Launceston in the past year according to the police who came.

The service desk could not have been more rude, dismissing the seriousness of the break in and putting the blame on us. While it’s happened multiple times recently to other guests - no warning during check in, no signs or proper safety lighting. CCTV footage was grainy and usable.
No fault on the hotel itself (a clean comfortable place and good value) and certainly it’s our property we have responsibility for, but when my partner is distraught because her grandmother’s jewellery’s been stolen and we’re exhausted from packing up our life and driving for 3 hours, I would have appreciated an ounce of warmth and hospitality from the...
Read moreGreat location. Plenty of parking. Helpful staff. Nice rooms with air conditioning and paid tv channels. Good house keeping.
However they have infrastructure problems: the rooms are not noise proof. You can hear the normal conversations from the adjacent room. Which means they can hear yours. Felt a lack of privacy. The plumbing needs some repair - when the hot water is on, you can hear the noise of the plumbing shaking. Two sections to this hotel - one section (the good one, with lifts) is branded as Mercure Launceston and the old section (no lifts) is branded as hotel Launceston. See google reviews for Mercure Launceston. Pretty...
