I recently had the pleasure of playing a show at the Royal Oak Hotel in Launceston, and I must say, it was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, helping us with our equipment and ensuring that everything was set up for our performance. The stage and sound system were top-notch, and we were able to deliver a high-energy set that had the entire crowd on their feet. The atmosphere at the Royal Oak was fantastic, with a lively and engaged audience that made us feel right at home. The venue itself is beautifully designed and decorated, with a great layout that allows for easy movement and excellent sightlines from every part of the room. After the show, we were able to unwind and relax in the comfortable and well-appointed bar area, enjoying a drink and chatting with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Overall, I would highly recommend the Royal Oak Hotel to anyone looking for a great night out in Launceston. It truly is a top-notch venue with fantastic staff and a great atmosphere.

We stumbled into The Royal Oak on a Wednesday night, drawn by the sound of an obviously happy crowd. It was packed!!! Really packed. There was no hope of a table. Nevertheless we asked. The waitress smiled and managed to magic us a table for two. Instantly I knew at least one reason why this place was packed: the service was beyond helpful, it was spectacular. The dining experience was also great. Pub fare, but done superbly. I had the chicken parmigiana and my wife has the schnitzel. We accompanied this with delightful ciders. Brilliant place. A definite visit.

Had an excellent meal at the Oak this week - slow cooked lamb shoulder, and it was devine!. In fact every dining experience there is always great. This not your standard pub fare. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend! The staff are always friendly and helpful which cannot be understated . Oh, we just happened to be there while Pub Choir was on so that was an added enjoyable element. The online booking system is easy to navigate and removes the need to wait for a table.

Where to begin on one of the most disappointing dining experiences.

The rude waitstaff, when we asked for a table for 2 the staff member rolled their eyes and said “fine” this is just shy of 8PM and the place still had people wandering in for food and the kitchen was still very much open.

Another staff member then came up and rudely said “are you ladies here to eat something or just here to sit down?” While the other staff member brought us menus.

2 other tables were seated and eating while we were there, specials read to them, offered them dessert, I’m not sure what we did to deserve such awful treatment.

Despite hearing other tables be offered water and rounds of drinks, no one offered us anything, we had to go to the bar to get a carafe of water and order drinks.

No one checked on us at any point throughout the meal, 1 of the dishes was excellent and actually deserved positive feedback, the other would not sell for $10 in a food court, let alone $27.

At the end of the meal when the plates were cleared, still no pleasantries or asking how the meal went or if we needed anything.

To add to the less than ideal experience above there were 2 very loud and two very conflicting musical performances going on in rooms either side of the dining room.

Spend your money elsewhere, Launceston has plenty of...

The Royal Oak has been my local for the past 8 years and I absolutely love it. Great music every night of the week, excellent food at really good prices and fantastic staff. When I can walk in ans the staff have my drink poured for me, what more can I say? They get to know the majority of their patrons by name and are quite happy to have a chat with you! They have a laugh with you and make you feel right a home. In the middle of winter you can sit next to a roaring fire talking with strangers about the music that is playing in the background. In the summer you can sit out the back enjoying a light lunch and downing some cold ones catching up with friends and always meeting new people! The Royal Oak is a fantastic place to go any time, so I strongly suggest...
