Been to the aquatic centre, probably around 38-ish times this summer with family... Usually purchasing a bottle of Pepsi and maybe some hot chips each so we've spent quite a bit in the cafeteria over the season. (7 of us)
Today was disappointing. So much so that we actually left the centre, obviously forfeiting our entry cost and we went elsewhere for lunch, not entirely sure we will return to the facility.
2nd visit to the canteen today(22-02-25) I ordered some hot chips and chicken strips. Pretty simple order. Hard to stuff it up. First time I've had to wait for food, usually it's prepared (chips at least) just after you pay. no worries, a few big orders went out, probably ran out of chips. All good. No mention was made of a 30 minute wait. I think anyone knowing that wouldn't have ordered realistically.
1/2hr later (by this time the entire line has been served and im pretty much 1 of 2 there) a lady (staff member) asks another customer what they are waiting for, and they reply chips. Me, chips and chicken strips.
I mentioned i had been waiting 30 minutes (by this time, others i was with had also got out of the pool and turned up wandering what was going on)
They spent the next 5 minutes going through the til looking for the transaction. I said look, this fella took my order and it was paid in cash.
Then the lady pipes up, something to the tune of why did you tell me something different?
huh? excuse me? what did I apparently say?
chips and chips and chicken strips was the answer...
really? wtf.
The food had been placed on the bench 3 minutes-ish before this...
Sure I understand customer service is a pretty stressful job, especially in those conditions, but that attitude and service is disgusting.
In fact, so was the food. the chicken strips were literally uneatable, tough as hell. The kids couldn't chew em and half the chips had black marks in them.
Would no longer recommend, at all... I understand everyone has bad days, and locating staff as well as staff retention are also big problems for many food businesses but seriously if you cannot properly staff the facility, are experiencing a staff shortage and/or food quality problems you should probably consider closing until you get on top of it...
For the price of the food, it's fair to expect reasonable quality food, in a timely manner, from staff who don't attempt to blame the customer for their own mistakes or time constraints.
realistically, the time I waited, I could have cooked a porterhouse steak, chips and salad for every person...
Read morePhoned at 4pm on a Sunday to confirm Cube Aqua were open and the lady said, "Yes, until 6, but it's a bit slow so maybe 5.30pm" . I told her our group would be there in 15 minutes. Arrived to find every chair stacked on tables and a young girl mopping the floor! The young woman behind the counter was throwing all the food out and made us wait until she was done. We had every intention of having coffee and something to eat, but the supremely BAD ATTITUDE of the young woman behind the counter forced us to grab our coffees and get out of there. I would NOT recommend this establishment purely based on the staff member. I have no idea what their food is like and we took our...
