Having read a number of reviews for Reel, I wasn't sure I wanted to risk trying the gummy meal but I needn't have worried. The food was wrapped nicely in a way that would avoid it sweating too much. The chips were chunky and cooked crispy as we like them and the seasoning on them was divine. The gummy fillets were thick and juicy and the batter was thick but not heavy and definitely not greasy. My first order was amazing and couldn't be faulted and resulted in my writing a 5 star review. Unfortunately the meals that followed were nothing short of disappointing. My most recent order was the "Reel Net". This promised 3 pieces of fish and chips for $26 so I figured that despite their portions not being large it would still be worth the money. I was wrong. 3 tiny pieces of fish - one the size of a fish finger, the other two twice that. Because I don't like to leave bad reviews for local businesses I contacted them through their Facebook page. They apologized for the dismal fish portions and blamed it on the supplier. This was pretty poor form and I told them that their response was as disappointing as their portion sizes. It's a shame because the food was really hot, fresh and tasty and had the sizes been adequate I'd be giving them a five star review right now. However money is tight for many right now and I believe people have the right to know what they can expect so I'll add photos to this review. I would recommend the Reel Net meal of you're feeding a couple of young children and I'd recommend Reel Fish n Chips to you if money is no object.

I understand the view but really this is just a fish a chip shop not a fancy restaurant as the owners reply has specified so not sure how you can justify charging so much. Most seafood meals come with chips or salad but you have to pay extra for all this. How can you charge $15 for 6 crumbed prawns that looked frozen and were so tough that you could not eat. $9.50 for a small side of swwet potato fries?? Owners reply was we received 500g which is half a kilo ?? No it was a small serving Also this place does not offer tap water you have to pay for a bottle of water, which I dont understand when you are charging customers so much considering you do offer table service and sell alcohol. $32.50 for the Grilled Salmon that tasted microwaved, no flavour. I was told this place was once great but has gone down hill, will not be back The owners reply was we also complained about cigarette smoke from other restaurants which was incorrect, there is a cigarette bin directly opposite your outdoor eating area. I understand the reply regarding the owner trying to survive, but instead of arguing back to customers feedback you should try to improve your services to what they were a few months ago. People are happy to pay more but the food needs to be up to standards as well. Hope you listen to other peoples feedback so your place does not suffer

We went to this place despite the underwhelming reviews we read and thought this couldn’t be that bad! We came at 2pm and the restaurant only have 2-3 tables occupied compared to the very busy restaurant next door. We ordered fresh oysters ($20) from the seafood menu, a small sweet potato fries $9.50 (definitely not as a side dish) and fish net ($25) but to my surprise I was told that we can’t order any fries ‘by itself’. Upon my confusion I asked why can’t I order when it’s not a side dish and even so I’m ordering main meals from the seafood menu?? Thankfully the staff was very helpful and understanding (this is the only saving grace this place have!). She checked with her colleague and the chef inside who’s then allowed us to order them in the end. FYI- this rule is not written anywhere. The food were okay and sweet potato fries were slightly burnt (I couldn’t be bothered and just ate them as we were hungry). They don’t serve table water (although i could see that they do serve alcohol) and you can only purchase what’s available in the fridge. The last and not least, I use their toilet and found no toilet paper in any of the cubicles. Asked the staff and told that it’s not their responsibility to provide and she believes that ‘next door’ should do that. When I asked, do you know if we can ask them, she then funnily handed me a roll from their stash that they kept just behind the counter. I exclaimed, “Well, aren’t they toilet rolls!!!”. I shook my head and thought this place...
