A decent Indian feed but not without a couple of small but uncomfortable issues:
The air conditioning was hardly/not working. For a hot summers day this made for an uncomfortable dining experience.
The website pricing is outdated, so we found the dishes are $3-$6 more expensive each. Some dishes almost at $30 for basic curries.
The portion sizes were good, but not outstanding at the price we paid.
Mango chicken - 9/10. Beautiful dish and really got the mango flavour out of it. If it had mango pieces in it, it could be a 10.
It’s also one of the cheapest dishes at $24. I would pay that again.
Lamb Malibu - 7/10. A decent dish but lacked the coconut or Malibu rum flavour. Fat like a regular lamb dish, nothing spectacular.
Got served really quick for a fully booked Sunday night. That was a bonus.
But the big put off for me was the pricing. I can’t justify how expensive it was especially when the website stated cheaper prices. I understand cost of living has gone up but it’s a bit ridiculous when soft drinks are $5.50 and the dishes are $25-$30.
Good food, felt authentic, but it didn’t knock me off my seat, the price did.
For that reason I wouldn’t rush back if I were local.
If you want to treat yourself and value for money isn’t a concern, you would...
Read moreI’m constantly pleasantly surprised by the quality of restaurants in Tasmania. Last night we had dinner at Spice Lounge. As it was situated an a water front tourist precinct I didn’t hold out much hope as I invariably find that food quality is in direct inverse proportion to the quality of the view. (The better the view the worse the food). Not at Spice Lounge. Every dish was a generous size, but more importantly, delicious. We loved the palak paneer, dhal and vindaloo prawns. Oh and the chilli paratha was superb. We were so pleasantly surprised - especially with the prices. A bottle of Tasmanian sparkling cost us $52 whereas 2 nights ago at Black Cow we paid $27 for a glass! Service at Spice Lounge was extremely efficient and very pleasant. Can’t recommend...
Read moreLast night, We visited this restaurant. Horrible service. We came from Hobart first time in Launceston. But our experience at this Indian restaurant was really disappointing. We checked online and Their closing time is 9.30 but they saw us and close the door at 8.30. We stood at the door for 2 minutes but no one came out as even we knock the door. After few minutes, a guy came out and started argue with us which is really really really really really disappointing. Our friends from Perth with us, we mainly invited them from Perth to visit Launceston. But that guy spoiled our mood and we feel very bad. Overall, I will never come to this restaurant in future and even I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Weired service and...
