If you’re craving authentic Afghan cuisine made with heart and heritage, Afghan Mum’s Restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment I stepped in, the warm atmosphere and inviting aromas made me feel like I was being welcomed into a true Afghan home.

The food is nothing short of exceptional. The mantu was delicate and perfectly spiced, the kabuli pulao rich and fragrant with every bite, and the lamb kebabs were incredibly tender—seasoned just right and grilled to perfection. The naan was fresh and fluffy, straight from the oven, and the homemade chutneys added the perfect kick.

What truly sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. The staff treat you like family, and you can tell each dish is prepared with care and pride. Afghan Mum herself is often present, greeting guests with a warm smile and ensuring everyone leaves full and happy.

If you’re looking for an authentic Afghan dining experience with soul, flavor, and love in every bite, Afghan Mum’s Restaurant is the place to be. Five stars...

Absolutely the BEST Afghan restaurant in Melbourne!

Afghan Mum’s Restaurant in Dandenong is a true gem. The food is absolutely delicious — full of rich, authentic flavours that take you straight to the heart of Afghan cuisine.

Every dish is cooked to perfection, from the juicy kebabs to the mouthwatering mantu and fluffy rice.

What really makes this place stand out is the incredible staff and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The manager genuinely cares about every customer and always goes above and beyond to make sure you feel right at home.

It’s the perfect place for families, kids, and groups of friends — everyone is made to feel like part of the family here.

I always enjoy my time at Afghan Mum’s and can’t recommend it highly enough. Whether you’re new to Afghan food or a longtime fan, this place will leave you smiling and satisfied every time. 10/10 — do yourself a favour and...

Had a great time at Afghan Mums Restaurant in Dandenong. The food was top-notch, the space was huge, and everything was impressively clean including the toilets, which honestly left a lasting impression.

We ordered the Uzbeki rice (which is actually Kabuli Pulao) and it was absolutely delicious rich, fragrant, and cooked to perfection. The grilled fish, a white pomfret, was juicy and full of flavour. Every dish tasted fresh and authentic. The restaurant is very spacious, comfortably fitting over 60 guests. I also loved the family seating areas where you can sit on the carpet and dine such a nice cultural touch that adds to the overall vibe There’s also 1hour paid parking right in front of the place, which was super handy.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Afghan cuisine in a clean and welcoming setting....

Hi, I’m honestly really disappointed and regret spending my money here. I paid for what was supposed to be a full mixed grill tray, but what I received was far from acceptable. The food had no taste, no quality, and the portion size was ridiculous. It seems like they’re only good at advertising — nothing else. I only ordered from here because my husband wanted to give it a try. But seriously, the kebabs were so small and thin, two of them together didn’t even equal one normal skewer. The rice looked like it was just two small scoops, and that’s it. I’ve tried many other restaurants in Dandenong, and even their regular plates are more generous than this so-called “tray.” To be honest, this was just disappointing and not worth the money at all. Never again.

First time dining here and the staff were so friendly, the smell of the charcoal grill as soon as you walk in let's you know you're already in for a great meal! We asked the lovely waitress about how many of the Mums special platter we should order with 2 adults and 2 kids as we also had to try some Manto so went with her recommendation of 2 X the mums special platter and it was plenty of food! Everything tasted amazing! These are definitely the best Manto I have ever tried and all the meats were beautifully grilled, we will definitely be back!
