We went last night for dinner for the first time and have to say it was fabulous. Friendly staff greeted us and gave good information about how to order etc. We had a steak/chicken burrito (enormous!) and a prawn taco, washed down with a sangria each.... wow! The burrito was chocked full of fresh and delicious ingredients and was so more-ish it was hard to put down and was so ample, even with the considerable help of my partner, it was left unfinished. The taco was delicious and tasty, as were the sides of rice and beans, it came with, yum! The sangrias were generous and there was an amazing feeling of cohesion watching staff do their thing. We shared a coconut icy pole (peleta) at the end which was so delicious and not too sweet, which was a nice find. Cannot wait to go back, full stars to this wonderful find!
01/01/2019 an updated review after going today for our second visit today. I had the pulled jackfruit burrito which was fabulous, though could have been hotter and will request that next time, as I do like my food super hot and it was only just warm! The only gripe I have is that the music was super. super loud and in the middle of the day. it just seemed unnecessary and out of place. We couldn't hear each other and really wanted to have a catch up, so we left before finishing. I still like the place but would urge them to consider that people go there yes to eat, but also to talk and be social over a meal. I would return for the great food if, when getting there, I could hear my companion, but I wouldn't stay to eat if the music was as loud and consuming, as...
Read moreJust ordered takeaway at 8:35pm, Sat 23/7. The guy that served us was really nice, explained there would be a $1 surcharge for lettuce etc. that was fine by us.
As we sat there waiting, we noticed the girl in the red apron was messing around with another employee spraying him with a water bottle. Again, a bit of fun so that’s all good. But then sprayed the water over her hands and it dripped onto the tortilla on the grill. Pretty gross.
It gets better, she has no gloves on, tucks her hair behind her ears and twice rubs her nose and face, then she proceeds to make my burrito dipping her bare, grotty hands into the salads and cheese to place onto my food. Stopping mid way through to rub her apron then continues to make my burrito.
After my burrito is wrapped, she then goes to get a cleaning cloth to wipe down a bench and then proceeds to make another order. Literally not once did she wash her hands or sanitise. Your employees should know not to touch their uniforms, face or hair then touch food. Soo rank.
I made a complaint to Miguel the manager but he literally implied that because he didn’t see it and he was busy that he can’t do anything other then to tell her not to do it again.
So your burrito is going straight into the bin and now I’m hungry and out of pocket. I think the council may get a call as they will probably take my complaint seriously.
Other then this, service was great so that’s...
Read moreAccessibility note: Getting into Bay City Burrito isn't an issue with a wheelchair - there were no stairs or tight corners to enter. Additionally, my partner informs me there was a all-abilities toilet on the site - but mentions "it may be a bit tight". The seating is very moveable as well for prams and other accessibility accessories.
Am I in Mexico? Am I in San Fran? Or Heaven? Wait... I'm in St. Kilda?!I have no idea how my partner stumbled upon such perfection.
Upon entering, we were led speedily to our reserved seats, water and glasses on the table awaiting us. We got our order in, and despite a small mix up with the drinks, we had everything we'd ordered within 15 minutes. Our timing was spot on - not long after we'd ordered at the bar, a line of people stretched out to the front door ready to order. Bay City Burrito had all of their orders in super fast!
I'm so glad we ordered less than we thought - the food was so filling, and they weren't small portions! The bright flavours were perfectly balanced with the spiciness of the chilli, and the freshness of the ingredients.
The owner (Didn't catch their name, but you had the American accent) was so friendly. He was absolutely flat out out but still took the time to listen to me compliment the balance of the margarita.
Absolutely amazing. Run, don't walk to this incredible place. And do yourself a favour - order the BCB margarita. You...
