I visited with my partner and found staff extremely rude. We were greeted by the person at the door who greeted us with hi and then proceeded to stare at us for a few seconds without any warmth or friendliness or asking how they could help their consumers. Finally they asked us if we wanted a table and we had said yes. There was a bit of a wait to get in which we were more than happy to do and it was understandable. We were so excited to eat here so we waited until our name was called. The excitement was quickly taken away from us. We were directed inside to sit at the communal table and made our way inside. As my partner and I were deciding which side we wanted to sit on we were approached by a staff member who we are assuming thought we were confused by the seating arrangements, in which case we weren’t. They told us if we wanted to sit at a different part of the table we could wait until it was wiped down and we said we didn’t mind. We were instructed to sit together for now as they cleaned the table, so we sat down and waited. We sat down next to eachother at this point as we didn’t see a point going all the way around just to be moved again. As we went to move to the new spot, another staff proceeded to direct us with hand gestures several times to go around and a look on their face that was sarcastic, laughing shaking their head and made us feel stupid as if we didn’t understand we needed to sit one on each side, which we did there was just clearly no communication between staff on us waiting for the other part of the table to be cleaned. When we explained what happened and that we didn’t mind where we sat we have just been told two different things, staff apologised for the confusion which was a generic response. At this point we were so disappointed and didn’t even want to eat there anymore because the service completely ruined the whole experience. The waitress who took our order was then rude to us taking the order. As we were leaving, I ordered a takeaway hot chocolate because the peanut butter hot chocolate sounded delicious, by the time I walked to the tram stop across the road- the hot chocolate was now a cold chocolate. The food was quite nice but given the experience, we would not return. I work in customer service where we aim to provide exceptional service, so I have a very good understanding of how you treat consumers, and this was not it. I would understand if it was one staff member who was having a bad day, but given that it was 4 staff members who were rude, that I cannot understand. If we could rate service a 0, believe me we would. Extremely...

During my visit to Bowery to Williamsburg, I decided to try their Southern fried chicken and waffles. From the moment it was served, I was struck by the presentation. The waffles were golden and perfectly crisp, forming a delightful base for the chicken, which looked equally appetising with its crunchy, well-seasoned coating.

The first bite confirmed that the kitchen knows its craft. The chicken was masterfully cooked, with a crisp exterior that gave way to a wonderfully juicy and tender interior (boneless chicken for the win!). The seasoning was just right, enhancing the natural flavours of the chicken without overwhelming them. The waffles, on the other hand, were light and fluffy, providing a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the savoury chicken. This contrast in flavours created a harmonious balance, making each bite a joy to savour.

Despite the dish being on the pricier side, which might deter some, the quality and execution were undeniable. However, given the cost, a bit more in terms of portion size or accompaniments would have enhanced the value for money.

The dining experience was further elevated by the attentive staff, who managed to be both friendly and efficient, ensuring that our needs were met promptly. It was impressive how swiftly the food arrived at my table, considering the restaurant was operating at full capacity. This level of service added to the overall positive experience and ensured that the visit was enjoyable from start to finish.

In conclusion, while the Southern fried chicken and waffles at Bowery to Williamsburg might be a splurge, the quality of the dish and the excellent service make it a worthwhile indulgence for anyone looking to treat themselves to a...

From start to finish, this place misses the mark in many ways that makes for a disappointing experience.

On Arrival On arrival, a prominent sign outside instructs you to wait to be seated. Ignore the sign unless you're in the habit of pointlessly wasting time: Nobody comes out to take you in or assign you to a table. I went in after waiting afew minutes and just called down a waitress to be seated. While having breakfast, I don't think I witnessed a single person who was bought in by wait staff after the following instruction to wait - everyone gave up and just came in.

Service There seemed to be 2 people serving as wait staff - fine given the place wasn't all that busy. I asked for a recommendation from the girl taking my order, and she managed to convey a rolling of the eyes and exasperation, without explicitly doing/saying so, while pointing me to the most expensive items on the menu. The other guy (who bought it my order) was very professional.

Food I got the Brisket and Eggs, with a flat white. I was surprised to discover the Brisket (served on corn bread) was cold, but otherwise fine. The corn bread however was rather dry. The coffee was decent.

Price Absurdly expensive. My order came to just under $40. I had to double check the bill to make sure I hadn't been charged the wrong order. It turns out that there is a weekend surcharge that added about $5 to the bill.

Concluding Remarks When I last visited Melbourne, this was a bustling place with a queue of people outside. It's easy to see why this is no longer the case. There are plenty of alternatives that serve better food, at a more reasonable price, and without the serve of exasperation when you ask for a...

Another hidden gem in one of Melbourne’s laneways, if you didn’t know about this cafe you’d never find it unless you accidentally walked down the lane way or like us googled cafes near me. So glad we found it, we got there at around 930 & the place was booked out, we opted to sit outside under the heaters, this was warm enough & nice enough to stay the whole time. The menu was very different to your typical breakfast menu, very American. I opted for the Salmon & capers Shaksuka, glad I did, it was bursting with herbs & spices, the eggs were cooked perfectly & the salmon was fresh & tender, the capers were the icing👌🏾 My husband ordered the lox potatoes & latkes with poached eggs - not your typical eggs & salmon but very tasty, salmon was fresh, asparagus was the perfect texture, not too soft & the potato latkes were scrumptious. Great coffee! Was nice to experience a different kind of breakky in a Melbourne laneway, has a cool vibe. By the time we finished the line up the laneway was quite long, the place is obviously well known with a great reputation. Lucky for us, we found it by accident! Our waiter was very hospitable, friendly & informative.

We chose two onion-flavored bagels for our sandwiches: B.E.C. and Mushroom & Halloumi. My partner’s favorite was the B.E.C., featuring juicy roasted beef that was perfectly cooked, tangy mustard, crisp pickles, and melty American cheese. The flavors blended beautifully for a satisfying bite. As for me, I loved the Mushroom & Halloumi bagel. The rich, earthy flavors of the mushrooms combined perfectly with the roasted garlic and chive schmear, a drizzle of basil oil, and fresh lettuce. It was light yet deeply satisfying—my absolute favorite. To top it off, the Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate was a real treat. Thick, creamy, and indulgent, it had a rich chocolatey sweetness with a nutty undertone. Unlike the watery hot chocolates from other cafes, this one was a standout and something I’d happily come back for. Overall, this was a delightful meal that left us fully satisfied. The flavorful bagel sandwiches and the standout Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate made this a spot worth remembering. I’d definitely return to try more from their menu and indulge in that heavenly hot chocolate again!
