Another hidden gem in one of Melbourne’s laneways, if you didn’t know about this cafe you’d never find it unless you accidentally walked down the lane way or like us googled cafes near me. So glad we found it, we got there at around 930 & the place was booked out, we opted to sit outside under the heaters, this was warm enough & nice enough to stay the whole time. The menu was very different to your typical breakfast menu, very American. I opted for the Salmon & capers Shaksuka, glad I did, it was bursting with herbs & spices, the eggs were cooked perfectly & the salmon was fresh & tender, the capers were the icing👌🏾 My husband ordered the lox potatoes & latkes with poached eggs - not your typical eggs & salmon but very tasty, salmon was fresh, asparagus was the perfect texture, not too soft & the potato latkes were scrumptious. Great coffee! Was nice to experience a different kind of breakky in a Melbourne laneway, has a cool vibe. By the time we finished the line up the laneway was quite long, the place is obviously well known with a great reputation. Lucky for us, we found it by accident! Our waiter was very hospitable, friendly & informative.

Dining Experience @ Bowery To Williamsburg. . Inspired by, and named after, a subway line within New York City. Specialising in classic American diner dishes, Bowery To Williamsburg attracts a good breakfast and lunch crowd for their hearty bagels and sandwiches. . The Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate (AUD $6) is creamy thick and rich, with a velvety texture and deep chocolatey milky nutty sweet flavour. Love this unique spin on a hot chocolate, the difference in taste is distinct. . Was craving a good sandwich, and The Reuben Sandwich (AUD $22) checked all the right boxes. . Between 2 thick crisp slices of rye bread with grainy sour earthy bready flavour, is a bed of juicy sauerkraut with vegetal sour salty sweet flavour, stacked high with generous medium thin slices of tender chewy pastrami beef brisket with smoky meaty salty savoury spice flavour, completed with creamy Russian dressing which lends a sweet spicy kick. . Topped with a juicy pickled gherkin with vegetal sour sweet flavour. Super filling, I wasn't able to finish this decadent dish.

New favourite brunch spot! Recommend: fried chicken and waffles Smoked Brisket and eggs Love their fried chicken and waffles. Perfect sweetness and savouriness, hit every spot! The onion bagel was a delight, especially its aroma. However, the pastrami was a tad too salty, otherwise it did be a perfect dish for me. The chicken waffle was $25, standard price for a brunch spot. Can’t wait to try their Philly cheesesteak and brisket next! Update: I came back to try the Philly cheesesteak. Although the bread was crispy and the meat was juicy, the taste completely threw me off( no flavours at all). So bland… The brisket is amazing, juicy, tender and full of flavours and the sauce that came with it was perfect. As for the shashuka baked egg with smoke salmon, sour-cream and avocado. It was ok though I wish they did serve it with rye bread (for the texture)and not soft toast.

Busy little place which they've decked the place out here really well with some nice little tid bits to keep with the Brooklyn /new York theme. We were lucky enough to get squeezed on to the big communal table inside after a short wait. A little difficult to talk to each other across the table with other convos going on either side, but once the drinks then food was delivered - which was really quick after getting our coffee order and brunch order really promptly after sitting down. there wasn't much time for talking! Coffee were tasty enough - and the bagels themselves were tasty without being the absolute best we've had in melb. With this said, the southern fried chicken and the brisket looked great (even coming from a Vego). Fairly priced though watch for the 12% surcharge on weekends. All in all a different take on the standard melb brunch experience!

I came here a few weeks ago on a Sunday and I wonder if it would have been a different experience if I came during the week… The menu looked great, food was good and the staff lovely. This is the kind of place that you grab a coffee and bagel on your way to work or have a quick breakfast not a nice social breakfast. My friend and I were told to sit opposite each other on a long table and we couldn’t hear each other. We were literally elbow to elbow with the people sitting either side of us and we hadn’t even finished our meals (utensils in hand) when staff kept asking if we were done. At one point my friend went to the toilet and the waitstaff came up to take her plate I had to politely tell them we were still eating. We were there for about 45mins. I genuinely love when places are efficient but not like this.

Very tough to rate, as this place is so very good, and not, at the same time. Shakshuka was delicious and just as described. Challah toast was fresh. Brisket was tasty, but served cold (was it intentionally cold? never have I had brisket served cold) and had some hard bits - not what is referred to as the bark, just some rock hard pieces. Fried eggs were perfectly cooked. Cornbread was actually jalapeño cornbread - not a problem if you like jalapeños, but disappointing if you don’t. I will return to try the pastrami, and will edit my review if warranted, but for now it’s just middle of the road in my opinion. Side note to the management: if you have Sabrett umbrellas out the front and don’t serve Sabrett hot dogs, you’re going to upset some New Yorkers who would kill for one 😝.
