Ceylon Aroma Grand — Restaurant in Melbourne

One of the worst restaurants and people I've ever come across. Placed an uber order yesterday night for around $53 for chicken curry and some items which was a big amount. For the chicken curry had to pay double amount of $22 to get a bigger portion. When the order arrived was horrified to notice that all the left over bottom part of the chicken leg/bone pieces (part of feet without any meat) were sent with few of other pieces. The container was filled with 5 of inedible chicken bones, with 3 other medium pieces and few small ones. Upon talking to Thivanka he asked to place another order today for a drink and he will resend it. Since he talked like a decent person, (and being a fellow Sri Lankan) didnt initially want to post a negative review thinking it was honest mistake. As I actually did need drink, I placed an order today again as he said however told him that I also have to pay an additional amount of $9.49 for delivery with total of $13 with drink. He mentioned he will send something additional to make up for gap. This time when order arrived, found out the drink was missing and they added 1 roti which was around $4-5 to make up for extra payment of $13 which was more than double the roti. It was a joke. And upon messaging Thivanka he said drink was not included 'intentionally ' as they had already sent chicken curry!!!!!!! Which was their initial mess to begin with. After that he didn't even have the decency to answer any of the calls made even though he kept saying yesterday to "call him at any time and he will do everything to help". Which is load of "bullshit" in plain and simple english. I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from your restaurant (and Thivanka) as your nothing but a scam. When people try to be nice to you, after you muck things up - you treat them even worse without any consideration to the $75 received. Have never been more disappointed in...

My husband and I stopped in here to get some lunch to take across the road to the park last weekend, on Sunday. At first, we thought it would not be our best option because the freshly-cooked meals would not be served until 5pm and all that was available was in the cabinet - which included a chicken tikka curry that was designed to take home and heat up, and a spinach and fetta borek. But the man who was behind the counter was absolutely charming and generously offered to include some rice in the chicken curry and warm it up for us so we could eat it for lunch, so we decided that it was a good option after all. He prepared our little picnic and brought it outside to us (we were with our dog). He was incredibly friendly and kind, complimenting my eye makeup, and playing with our dog. In these bleak times where we don't get a lot of opportunities to interact with other people, it means so much more when someone treats you with this kind of warmth. But the best part came when we ate the food. My husband, who has very high standards and makes his own curries from scratch, said it was one of the best curries he has ever had. He has not stopped raving about it all week. And my borek was also perfect - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, packed with flavour. So I just wanted to say THANK YOU to this cafe, and the man who served us, for being the bright spot of our weekend. I'm sure business isn't as solid as it has been during lockdown, but please hang in there - you...

Why do you go back to a place again and again? Is it the food? The ambience? The people? The price even? For me it’s always a fine combination of all. Sometimes, a place has great coffee but lacks something; the staff are disinterested or the place is pokey. But you go back because the coffee is great yeah?

Well with this place you get it all... Seriously the staff are amazing, they remember your name and coffee order even after your first visit. Nick (head honcho) is warm and has a real sense of just being an awesome human. My partner wasn’t feeling too well and he whipped up a pipping-hot HLG-elixir just off his own back! Legends like this are becoming more rare to find in this world!

PS as I sat and ate my omelette and thought of the week I’d had I couldn’t help wonder, was this the best omelette I’d ever had?!

As long as Nick and Flick (the gorgeous waitperson) and the talented Chefs are running this slick show I will be back front row...
