A place that has been on my radar for kangaroo's years for its take on a reuben sandwich did not disappoint and was leaps and bounds above expectation.
The kangaroo pastrami was sweeter than its usual counterpart and went well with the pineapple sauerkraut and thousand island sauce. Using a light rye that was perfectly toasted, this sanga is a must try for any reuben enthusiast like me.
The only downfall is the price - at $24 it's far from a cheap eat but more of an upscaled and lavish one.
The smashed falafel was just as luxurious, tasting full of herbs and incredible flavour - but be sure to add the poached egg for that extra yolky goodness even if it breaks the budget because the dish is quite small without it. At $29, is it too much to ask to get an entire tortilla and not just there quarters of one? Please and thank you!
Welcomed with a smile, this place blends modern sophistication with classic charm but it does come at a price (that is even more expensive on public holidays). It is definitely a reflection of quality over quantity and a desire to be different. And I do believe overall this is an aesthetic destination that really does well at eliciting upmarket yet casual...
Read moreI visited this place with my partner a while ago and really enjoyed the soba tuna (still one of the best soba dishes Iâve had in Melbourne) and the fried rice with deep-fried crab (not sure if itâs still on the menu anymore). We came back specifically for the soba. It was just as amazing as I remembered: delicious and refreshing, perfect for summer. We also tried the chicken waffle, it was decent.
The service wasnât the best. When our food arrived, we still hadnât received the drinks menu. We had also asked for sharing plates before placing our order but didnât get them until we asked again during the meal. When we requested the drinks menu, the waitress seemed a bit rude. She responded with, âTheyâre making it,â even though we hadnât ordered any drinks yet. There was also some miscommunication with her, I asked if the snow matcha was iced, and she said yes, but it turned out to be only served hot (confirmed when we had to went to the barista to see if thereâs an ice option). I wouldnât have ordered it if Iâd known that. Enjoy the food but the not so good service overshadowed it. Itâs not a huge issue, but when youâre spending $70â80 on brunch, you do expect at least a basic...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant after checking their website, where the menu listed dishes like Scotch Eggs and Salmon Mille-Feuille. We actually travelled especially to try these, only to arrive and be handed a completely different menu from what was advertised online.
I ordered the baked eggs, which were unfortunately very disappointing. The egg whites were raw and wobbly, the ragu was more like a watery, under-seasoned soup with a few white beans and a single thin slice of chorizo, the rest of the ingredients seemed to be missing entirely.
My husband had the poached eggs with hash browns and grilled tomatoes. His eggs were also undercooked, the hash browns were fine, but the tomatoes were ice cold.
Overall, the experience was very underwhelming, such a waste after travelling there specifically. We left feeling utterly...
