Thank Poseidon the fish wasn’t plucked straight out of the Yarra, because if it had been, I'd currently be glowing in the dark. Instead, it was surprisingly fresh, battered like it owed someone money, and deep-fried to a golden crisp that screamed "health is a mindset." Now, let’s talk chips. These weren’t just long — they were comically long. I’m talking "is this a chip or a javelin?" long. Somewhere out there is a potato the size of a small car that sacrificed itself for this cause. Heroic. The meal came with a "choice" of soft drink. And by choice, I mean Coke. Just Coke. Not Diet, not Zero, not even a rogue Solo. It's like they spun the wheel of options and it landed on “Coke” forever. Take it or leave it — just don’t ask questions. Atmosphere? 10/10. Southbank Promenade is the perfect place to sit, eat, and ponder life’s big questions — like why are seagulls so aggressive, and is this chip long enough to be a walking stick? Cheap, filling, and slightly surreal. Would return, possibly for the chips alone. Bring your own beverage… unless you're ride-or-die for Coke.

Located opposite King St bridge along Crown promenade next to the Yarra, this fish and chip place is worth a visit. Easy to find, just look out for the huge red lips. It’s expensive for what you get but that’s probably due to the rent at Crown. Food was cooked very quickly and tasted amazing. Fish burger with pickles was very light. Barramundi fried ‘wings’ super succulent. And the batter cooked chips mouth watering. It’s a small place so not much room to sit but plenty of room along the Yarra. Get there at 11:45 to avoid the rush. Not a large selection of drinks, no shakes or anything. But there’s an ice cream place next door. Parking at Crown is $21 weekdays so get there by public transport if you can otherwise it’s an expensive lunch. Watch out for the seagulls!! They steel your fish!! 🐟 No really!

Update November 2019: Took over 30mins for a standard fish and chip order. Had to follow up as people that ordered well after me were getting their orders. Staff acknowledges she never put it through, no apologies just tried to laugh the mistake off. Thanks for wasting my lunch break. Excellent fish and chips. The batter is light and crispy. Fish is always fresh and the chips are crunchy and well seasoned. There is limited seating however you can take away and sit right on the Yarra if it's a nice day.

55 minutes wait for basic food order, not good enough. The food was good when we eventually got it. Fair enough that it was 6pm ish on busy Southbank on Good Friday, but we ordered at 6.05pm, the only ones in queue to order and a small number of people waiting for there orders to be filled. We watched as those people waiting ahead of us also were waiting n unreasonable long time whilst uber eats and the like delivery people came, picked up and left in a flash. The least the staff could have done when we were ordering is alert us that there was a 45min- 1hour wait so that we could have planned out evening around that or just choose to go elsewhere. Very poor management. Thankfully we had the time to wait, I feel for those that may have had a show or something to go to. Very...
