Honestly I would give 6 stars if I could.

I have been trying so many good pizzerie since I am here in Melbourne but this is by far the best pizza I have ever had. You can hardly find a pizza as good as this one even in Italy (I'm Italian so I know what I'm talking about 😄)

I have tried four different pizzas by now, getting some of the "weirdest" (that's my opinion, since I am more of a fan of classic pizzas) as well and I can tell you that I have never been disappointed. Nice and not at all heavy dough, fresh and tasty ingredients and the most important thing was that Thomas the pizza maker, cooked it at perfection.

Talking about the rest: Don't just come here for the pizza! The pasta is great too!! The chef is a real legend. Ask for an Amatriciana with a glass of vino rosso and you'll walk out with a smile. The place is super cosy. Quiet, relaxing and rustic atmosphere makes you enjoy the food even more. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you're home. Have a chat with them as long as they are not too busy and let them recommend you with drinks to match with your food, they've got a good selection. The Al fresco area is very nice and it's comfortable in every season since its well covered. On Monday they do pizza night with every pizza at $15, another very good reason to go!

That's all I have to say. I definitely recommend it and I will definitely come...

freddys! such a bustling and fun sport for some delicious italian and some with a little twist - nduja on pizza, gorgonzola croquettes etc. service is really really prompt, friendly waiters always willing to help, which can be hard for bigger groups! its a small but cosy and dim environment, sets a nice warm tone which is sometimes hard to find on the hectic chapel st. food is also really great. i find the food has been more enjoyable here when i've visited as a 2 rather than in a bigger group, but that can be expected as its hard to time fishes to be ready all together. antipasto platter was faultess and very good value for $23! paying mostly $35 for a plate of cheese at wine bars these days.....croquettes also so tasty and hot (we ordered an extra serve of sauce to dip our crusts in!) mussels you cant go past! one of their best dishes. served with a generous amount of broth and so more-ish. we always order this. mains were not as good but still yummy. pastas tasted fine and generous servings, but similar to the pizzas were served cold/seemed to be sitting out a little. however quality of the pizza dough was great, thin and light - just would've liked a little saucier! salad good too. one pizza was forgotten from our order but this was rectified immediately and not a problem at all! thanks for having us again Freddys, we...

Coming from someone that eats Italian food 6/7 days a week, and has eaten their way through Italy many times, this, is hands down, up there with the greats, and then takes it to another level.

Why? Simply because each item we had off the menu was incredible in it’s own right. There were NO weak links.

Now that’s a rare thing.

Pizzas are wood fired, authentic, tasty and generously layered with toppings. The dough is high quality, really tasty and clean.

The gnocchi is house made and just melts in your mouth.

The fit out is classic Italian with modern edge. Warmly and dimly lit incandescent bulbs, rustic steel overhangs and not too many tables - there’s a nice sense of space, which is helped by the soaring ceiling.

The pizza oven is situated at the end of the bar, back of the room, and you can see the action from anywhere you sit, flames glowing in the background with masterpieces to be going in and coming out perfect.

We ate:

House Made Gnocchi w/ wagyu ragu

Pizza What’s the Story Salvatore? prosciutto / san marzano / mascarpone / rucola / parmigiano

Tiramisu - needs mentioning that this is the best tiramisu I’ve found in Melbourne to date - huge call, well deserved 💯

We drank: House Pinot -...

Tucked away on Chapel Street, Freddy’s Pizza is a neighborhood gem that brings real passion to wood-fired pizzas and good times. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a rustic brick‑lined interior, heated outdoor seating, and a friendly, buzzing vibe perfect for casual catch‑ups or a relaxed date night. We grabbed high chairs by the window and started with the potato pizza. The slices were huge and hearty, but the toppings were a bit mild, still enjoyable, but not as bold as I’d hoped. The real highlight was the Danny Zuko pizza,it was outstanding. Topped with sopressa salami, red peppers, gorgonzola, and fresh fiore di latte, it had the perfect balance of smoky char, creamy cheese, and spice, one of the best specialty pizzas I’ve tried in Melbourne. Service was genuinely friendly and accommodating, fire‑fired pizzas came out promptly, and staff took care of us seamlessly despite a lively dinner rush. Whether you're after classic Italian flavours or more adventurous toppings, Freddy’s delivers flavor, fun, and flair.

A flavour-packed culinary experience Freddy’s appears from the outside as a cosy and intimate settingc with dim lighting and a dark wooden interior. Inside you’d be surprised to walk into quite a lively, loud atmosphere, as its small size encapsulates the laughter of everyone around. The service was timely and hospitable right to the very end. The menu is to the point. Selection is from pizza, pastas, starters and desserts, with an alcoholic drinks menu on offer as well. The pizza - Incredible base, it held together and was soft and crisp in the right spots. Slightly burnt at the bottom but the rest of the pizza made up for it. Every ingredient complimented and packed flavour. Calamari Fritti - honestly the best fried calamari I’ve ever had, perfectly crisp and melted in the mouth Dessert - a delicate cannoli shell, the cream filling was delicious. The tiramisu was light and a perfect blend of mascarpone, subtle coffee taste
