Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen is located on Russell Street in Melbourne. Walking downstairs into the basement, it has a large dining space, bustling with hungry diners. We were seated in the private dining room which was gorgeous & included traditional low tables & a sunken seating area.

It was fascinating to hear the history of the place & the dishes from our lovely host Ineke. Keeping with tradition, most ingredients are imported from Japan & all their noodles & gyoza skins are made fresh daily. They had an amazing range of ramen & other Japanese food so we were happy to be offered some suggestions when it came to ordering.

We started with the gyoza, karaage & a half rack of marinated pork ribs. The gyoza were juicy & delicious & the skin was so thin yet managed to stay together & keep all the goodness inside. Some of the best gyoza we’d ever tried. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside & perfectly tender inside. The rack of pork ribs was falling off the bone & full of flavour. The pork ribs are marinated & then slow cooked & the flavour of the marinade was absolutely delicious.

Then it was definitely time for ramen, the main attraction at this place. We loved the way we could order our base, customise our noodles, broth & oil as well as choose our own toppings. I opted for a fairly basic ramen while my friend chose a chilli base & different levels of broth & oil. The ramen was spectacular, my photos don’t do it justice. The flavours were incredible & presented beautifully. We slurped away happily as did all the diners around us.

We also tried a range of traditional Japanese drinks & sakes, presented on a gorgeous wooden paddle.

We had an incredible night at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen, the staff were friendly & attentive & it was a thrill to experience authentic Japanese food, steeped in tradition. Thank you Ineke & team for an unforgettable experience. I’m looking forward to many more ramen nights here over the coming cooler months. A must try if you’re a fan of ramen & traditional...

Hell. Yeah. We were looking for somewhere approachable and comfy in Melbourne on a Saturday night, and we walked past a load of places. I'm glad we did because we found this unassuming ramen joint down some stairs, and were immediately in love. Bright and airy, with some private areas alongside the main restaurant, the place feels like an outdoor seating area out front of your favourite ramen hut, complete with the fake awning sticking out over the kitchen! Simple and unassuming.became friendly and charming as soon as our menus arrived, complete with pencil, to circle our choices and fill in our details. All the options there in front of you for the perfect combination for you, as well as a recommendation from the team if you can't decide. Options for noodles, broth flavour and heaviness, and add-ons... if more restaurants had this level of accessibility the experience might not be so intimidating for us introverts! The team were great, efficient and helpful, but most of all friendly, making us feel welcome and appreciated. Portion size was great, and if I'd known HOW great I probably wouldn't have ordered rice AND extra noodles, cos hoooo-boy, it was so good I nearly exploded trying to eat those extra noodles. Special shout out to the Black Garlic broth, just a great showcase of the Ikkoryu kitchen's talents with a flavour profile so complex I'll probably need to order it a few times before I can map it all out. Great food to chat and catch up with friends over, or just to drown out a long day at the office, and priced great too. I will definitely be back, and probably a...

Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen is a premium Japanese rame cuisine promoted by Yamagoya Ramen which is a long player in this field (more than 40 years). The new Melbourne branch is located in the Russell Street between Flinders Ln and Flinders St.This restaurant has a massive space and plenty seats available. It's really cool place with Japanese authentic interior design. The vibe was really great and relaxing, the customer staffs were also nice and friendly.

We ordered: Yuzu Tonkotsu with extra noodle, light ramen oil, normal taste of soup broth, regular pork, light soy sauce, hard noodle texture for $17.00. It is flavoured with yuzukosyo, the spice is originally from kyushu region of Japan. It had citrus taste and it was too strong for a normal soup broth. The ramen noodle was cooked well actually. Overall, the Yuzu Tonkotsu was alright but not extraordinary for this value of money. It'll be great if the taste wasn't too strong for a normal soup broth. Note: little bit spicy. Original Tonkotsu ($15.00), light ramen oil, normal taste of soup broth, pork belly +$1.00 AUD, light soy sauce, normal noodle texture with additional egg +$2.00 AUD for $18.00. I had an overwhelming feeling to try the original tonkotsu in this restaurant but the taste was alright.

Considering not having a great first impression in this restaurant, I'd like to try another shot sometimes to try other dishes.

Service: 4.0 Taste: 2.5 Price: 2.5 Speed: 3.0

Yay: Free extra noodle on all ramens Nay: Slightly pricey and...

R is for the realness Ikkoryu brings A is for the aromatic ramen broth M is for the man-made noodles and gyoza wrappers E is for the excellent service N is for the nice staff This place embodies what it means to have quality ramen noodles in Melbourne. I tagged along with a Melbourne influencer who enjoys meeting new people and tasting what Melbourne has to offer. I ended up having the yuzu Koshu ramen. Don’t be put off by the green broth because it was soooo tasty. Pork and citrus is a well tried and tasted flavour combination and with the unami, it just makes it extra special. I could eat this every week. I haven’t had anything like it before and every ramen aficionado, or even a casual fan should try this at least once. Gyozas are tasty and they make their skins on site. If you feel like being extra naughty, get the deep fried gyoza skins, it’s the snack you never knew you needed. So addictive. We were also treated to the marinated pork ribs which were intense but tasty. I definitely had the meat sweats. The restaurant itself, while spacious, has an intimate feel. It feels hidden but you’re in the Paris end of the CBD. An excellent sake and beer collection. Ikkoryu feels high end, but at reasonable prices. Whether it’s a work lunch time thing, or an after work thing, or a dinner out with friends… you won’t be disappointed here. I’ll be going again, and by the time you read this, I was probably there a few times over. In the name of the father, son and the holy noodles…. Ramen.

I had a chance to stumble upon Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen tucked away in the Melbourne CBD, and let me tell you, it was a delightful surprise. The place itself is quite spacious and trendy, with a welcoming atmosphere. It was a chilly Melbourne evening, and the warm lighting and delicious aromas instantly lifted my spirits. I opted for the classic Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen, and it was pure comfort in a bowl. The broth was rich and flavorful, simmered for hours to perfection. The noodles were perfectly springy, and the chashu pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Each bite was an explosion of flavor and texture, and I couldn't help but slurp it all down with a contented sigh. I also tried their gyoza, and they were equally impressive. The pan-fried dumplings were crispy on the outside and had a juicy, flavorful filling. The dipping sauce added a nice tangy touch. Overall, Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen exceeded my expectations. It's a fantastic spot for a satisfying and delicious ramen fix. The friendly service and reasonable prices only add to the appeal. Whether you're a ramen aficionado or just looking for a hearty and comforting meal, I highly recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed!

The ramen shop is located in the basement with different variations of tonkotsu soup base to choose from and order is customisable to your preference. Besides ramen, they also have Japanese izakaya snacks, rice bowls and also tonkatsu. I went for a bowl of miso tonkotsu ramen and a pork katsu. For the ramen, I went with the recommended options except with the standard chashu pork; broth was rich in flavour but not porky or heavy, noodle texture was good and there was a decent amount of pork, tender with a slight sweetness to it. The tonkatsu was thick and tender but also quite rich and fatty. There are different sections of a pork loin and this one is sort of like a rib-eye instead of a sirloin if you compare it to steak. Panko coating was crispy on the top but the bottom was soggy. As for the condiment, the tonkatsu sauce was slightly more savoury and less tangy than the bulldog sauce; nice that there is salt which can enhance the natural flavour of the pork but would have been better if there was wasabi to pair with, and definitely needed more of the mustard to cut through the fatty richness of the tonkatsu. Overall it was tasty and reasonably priced.
