We came here after seeing it on IG and we regret it so much. The service was shockingly bad from start to finish.
We ordered some entrées and two hotpots, but the wait was painfully long. No water was offered the entire time, and even after raising our hands multiple times, no one came over — we eventually gave up. When the entrées finally arrived, the staff immediately placed both hotpots on the table, leaving no room for our plates. We literally had to hold our entrée plates in our hands while he set up, and then he just walked away without helping. Bizarre.
When we finished our entrées, we placed the plates on the side bench, but again the staff ignored them. Moving on to the hotpot, we specifically asked for the egg foam as advertised on IG, but were given raw egg instead. When we questioned it, the staff told us with a straight face to “just whisk it” and it would be the same 😂unbelievable. It was clear he had no product knowledge and absolutely zero customer service skills.
As for the food itself, it was just as disappointing. The yakitori looked nothing like the photos on Instagram, and the flavors were underwhelming. Overall, terrible service, untrained staff, and food that doesn’t live up to what’s advertised. Definitely won’t be back.
Not sure where all the 5 star reviews are...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for lunch with my friends, and we ordered the tonkatsu. Unfortunately, the experience was quite poor.
The three tonkatsu dishes arrived at different times. When mine finally came out, I noticed it looked perfectly oval, almost too uniform. My friends had already commented that theirs tasted strange, and I completely agreed once I tried mine. It didn’t look or taste like pork at all. The texture was spongy, more like a chicken nugget or meatloaf rather than a proper pork cutlet.
We even asked the waiter to confirm it was pork, and he said yes, but it really didn’t seem like it. The tonkatsu sauce was also in the sour side.
I was on my lunch break, so I didn’t pursue the issue further, but the waiter didn’t offer to do anything about it either. In the end, I only ate some rice, egg, and miso soup.
Overall, it was a very disappointing meal. I expected much better quality and authenticity from a Japanese restaurant - especially since I’ve eaten at several in Melbourne, and this was the first time I’ve been served a cutlet that didn’t resemble proper pork...
