Lune Croissant - A Culinary Gem in Melbourne City!

Lune Croissant has just redefined my expectations of what a perfect culinary experience should be. From the moment I walked into this enchanting haven in the heart of Melbourne City, I was transported to a world where flavor and ambiance collide in the most delightful way possible.

Let's start with the star of the show - the croissants! Oh, the croissants at Lune are nothing short of a masterpiece. I had heard the rumors, read the raving reviews, but nothing could have prepared me for the explosion of taste and texture that awaited me. Each bite of their flaky, buttery croissant was like a symphony of flavors dancing on my taste buds. The layers were so delicate and perfectly crispy, it was as if the pastry gods themselves had a hand in creating these heavenly creations. My personal favorite was the almond croissant – an absolute triumph of nutty sweetness and indulgent pastry.

But Lune is not just about the croissants; it's an entire sensory experience. The store itself exudes an understated elegance, with its minimalist decor and clean lines. The soft lighting and cozy seating make it the perfect place to savor these delightful pastries. It's as if they've designed the space to ensure that every bite is savored and enjoyed to the fullest.

And then there's the service. The staff at Lune Croissant are the embodiment of hospitality and passion. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for the products they serve are infectious. They take the time to explain the different varieties and help you choose the perfect croissant to match your preferences. It's clear that they take immense pride in what they do, and it shines through in every interaction.

I cannot recommend Lune Croissant enough. Whether you're a local or just passing through Melbourne, this is an experience you simply cannot miss. It's a testament to the dedication and artistry of the team behind Lune Croissant that they have crafted a slice of pastry heaven right here in our city.

In a world where excellence is often elusive, Lune Croissant is a shining beacon. Do yourself a favor and treat your taste buds to an unforgettable journey at Lune. You won't be disappointed – you'll be delighted!

Thank you, Lune Croissant, for setting the bar so high and for making my day a little more delicious. I'll be back, and I can't wait to create more memories in your...

Stepping into Lune Croissanterie Armadale feels like entering a temple of pastry. The space is minimalistic, sleek, and modern – pared back in design so the artistry of the croissants can take centre stage. It’s calm, refined, and quietly elegant, the kind of place where every detail feels intentional.

Now, onto the stars of the show – the croissants.

The Almond Croissant was an absolute delight – golden, impossibly crisp layers that shattered delicately with each bite, revealing a generous core of rich almond frangipane. The filling was smooth and nutty, not too sweet, with that signature warmth only perfectly baked frangipane can bring. Topped with the trademark Lune spine of neatly arranged flaked almonds, it was both beautiful to look at and deeply satisfying to eat. A true classic, executed with flawless precision.

The Breakfast Negroni Croissant was another level altogether – a daring, flavour-packed creation that brought together the world of cocktails and viennoiserie in perfect harmony. The croissant was brushed with Campari syrup, giving a subtle, elegant bitterness that played against the almond frangipane inside. The highlight was the Four Pillars Gin orange marmalade, which added brightness and a gentle boozy note. Finished with a topping of crunchy baked almonds, luscious honey cream, zesty orange marmalade, and crisp mandarin meringue shards, this croissant was a journey of flavours – sweet, bitter, nutty, citrusy, creamy – all in one bite. It was playful, indulgent, and unforgettable.

✨ Overall: Lune Armadale captures both tradition and creativity under one roof. From the minimalistic, stylish café to the show-stopping pastries, it’s not just a bakery – it’s an experience. Whether you’re chasing the comfort of a classic almond croissant or the excitement of something bold like the Breakfast Negroni, you’ll leave knowing why Lune is in a...

It's not worth the hype.

I am sorry to say I did not enjoy my visit to Lune, let's get into why. For some of the classics, such as an almond croissant or a ham and cheese croissant, Lune is very subpar for Melbourne. There are so many bakeries in this city that make pastries fresh daily, and you have to escape the social media bubble and explore some for yourself. You will undoubtedly find ones that deserve the hype far more based on the quality of the food. If you also factor in service and atmosphere, Lune has done very well via digital marketing, but the service is rushed, one in one out, not anything you will want to joyfully experience. The atmosphere is to stand around waiting in the masses, passively adding yourself to people's mantlepiece photo collections whilst deciding between a very small array of options of only pastries.

I would have to say Lune has become a victim of its own success, the setup looks impressive but, it is seemingly unable to meet the demand, it makes for an unpleasant experience spending more time than you should waiting for a mediocre pastry and rushed coffee to stand and wait for a table to clear or get on your merry way. The prices are also inflated, and again, choices are extremely limited.

Redeeming factors, the everything pastry was very tasty with the cream cheese filling, I will not be a total bore. The ongoing operation behind the counter also looks impressive at a glance, bringing the extra star for the atmosphere.

To conclude, whilst appearing harsh, my review intends to reflect that expectation is so high for Lune, I personally feel it underdelivers and is not comparable to other similar offerings in Melbourne. Coupled with extortinate pricing and below average coffee, it's not...
