worst of worst experience.
when making a reservation. I sent a message "do we need to pre order beef willington?" through the open table. but there was no reply and the booking was confirmed. A few days later, anyways we visited at 1:30 for a scheduled Sunday lunch was today.
we ordered calamari. beef willington. pork rib. bowl of chips and 2 drinks. and waitress asked "beef willington will take 25mis do you wanna get food together or not " I said " we are gonna sharing can you bring any food when it's ready." I made it clear that I said again that don't have to take it all at once.
she said ok Calamari was served pretty quickly. I think it was about 5-7 minutes after ordering.(served earlier than drinks) And a lot of time passed, and nothing served after that. other tables that arrived later than us were all served food. which was same i ordered ribs and chips .. and so on.
I asked the waitress who took the order. (When more than 30 have passed since the order was placed) I will share. I asked to serve any food when it was ready. All other tables were served, but I don't know why I haven't received it yet.
she answer after asked the kitchen and she said it would be ready in 2-3 minutes. After that, another table serving was repeated (they came later than us).
(after 10mins later) I asked her ..... she said... Do you want me to extra chips for you? I was bit angry for a moment, but I said calmly. You said it would be ready 2-3 minutes, and I don't need extra free chips.
she said I'll call the manager to talk to him. I said don't need any extra free chips or manager. I just want to know how is going (When 40 minutes have passed since placing the order...)
She went to call the manager while i was talking no need. The manager came and I explained the situation. He said the willington takes 45 minute to serve.
I said she mentioned 25 minutes, not 45mins. But, it wasn't matter how long for that because, I ordered to bring any food when its ready that we share.
The manager appologize the staff's wrong. He offer us would provide free chips and calamari.
...I said, I'm not trying to get something for free...' I suddenly lost my appetite... and I didn't want to eat.
after that served a bowl of chips....first.....(since order 48mins) About 10 minutes later, all food came. Partner started eating chips and willington. I didn't eat... He asked, "Why aren't you eating?" I said you can eat first. He ate Willington and some bowl of chips in ten minutes. He was looking forward to the food before he came. but, he said the taste is not good, I think it probably won't come again.
I didn't even touch the pork ribs that I ordered. Leave it as it new and tell him to pay in the counter. I left restaurant while he paying.
The main point why I wasn't happy.... 1)more than 4-6tables order later than us but, they received all food in shortly which mean the menu is fastfood as burger. ribs. chips (they order same as what we ordered except beef willington ) 2) no care......Normally ask and check when table empty for longtime. 3)the food not quality as the price. so pricy......
Calamari ★★☆☆☆ $19 (tiny potion . pricy)
beef willington ★★☆☆☆ $59 ?? (very tidy potion as well.... waste of time to expect the taste....-My partner review-)
pork rib ★★☆☆☆ $40 something?? (haven't eat...left the dish new as just served .but, doesn't look yam no quality of the price... better buy from coles to put air flyer that more better for cost and quality.

Read moreAbsolute disgusting service from the grey haired glasses wearing floor manager on the night of 12/4/25. Whilst at the bar ordering drinks before we perused the menu we were “ordered” to return to our table as he would take our drinks order at the table. He then proceeded to give the bar staff a rocketing for taking our drinks order and from the look they shot him it would appear he isn’t that highly respected by his work colleagues either. After waiting about 15 minutes for old silver to return and take our order we concluded that even if he did take our order we would probably be waiting at least another half an hour before our drinks would arrive. We decided we would much rather spend our money at an establishment that did provide friendly and efficient customer service. I told old grey balls that he was free to give our table to someone else as we were leaving to find another establishment. He then replied with “Well can you leave without causing a fuss” ??? Not sure how or why he felt this was necessary to reply with but it left myself and my kids a bit confused as to how we were apparently “causing a fuss” so we left without another work and proceeded to an establishment up the road where we were greeted and treated very warmly and friendly by the staff and enjoyed a very good meal and night and very happy to pay the $650 bill with $50 tip on top for there warm friendly service. I can only assume things are not going well at Breslin as that was my 4th visit to Breslin in the past 4 years and the service seems to get continuously worse, the meals are becoming quite ordinary at best but the price for them has risen significantly. Obviously they are scraping at the bottom of the barrel for staff if old grey bush is who they are putting in charge of running the floor. I would not put this bloke in charge of a Bunnings sausage sizzle let alone an apparently “ 5 star restaurant”. So on that note, we will not be returning to Breslin or recommending it to anyone visiting Melbourne and would highly recommend to others to get the best value for you dollars to instead look at the other establishments along the Southbank promenade as they are light years ahead of where...
Read moreThe walk from Spencer Street, along the promenade in front of the Crown Casino and heading towards Princes Bridge, you are faced with a glut of choices on where to eat. Italian, Japanese, fast food, fine dining and so much more. Today a dear friend from interstate and something of a ‘dining out virgin’ chose Breslin because it didn’t have live music (we needed to talk and catch up on 18 months of family life) plus the menu was simple to decipher. We propped ourselves at a table for two on the promenade side instead of heading indoors which was enormous with enough tables to easily seat 100 guests. The weather was mild for winter, the only upside of climate change (unfortunately) and so it was comfortable outdoor weather even when it started to rain later in the afternoon. The $25 lunch special had a number of main course choices which included a glass of house wine/beer/soft drink. I had the lamb shanks, Janet had the burger - oh la la what delicious food and the perfect portion size. The chips with the burger where delicately cooked and not over salted. The burger once cut in half, easy to eat one bite at a time. The shank meat fell off the bone and the sweet sauce was ‘finger licking good’. Next came a bottle of bubbles 🥂 to celebrate our reunion and the wine list was extensive. We chose a Seppelts The Drive non vintage Chardonnay. Just what the doctor ordered. But that’s not all. We were tempted with dessert so I ordered the lemongrass creme brûlée and Janet the chocolate mud cake. As the rain came down slightly dampening our table, we were joined by a friend and continued our reunion with a lot of laughter, great stories and all in a beautiful Yarra River view setting at Southbank. Staff were friendly and helpful. Notes: recommend you make a booking for those busy periods of Friday and Saturday night as it does get busy, suitable for vegetarians or those with dietaries, restaurant is wheelchair friendly, kid friendly, and the parking is reasonable if along St Kilda Road or at a number of the undercover parking services. Well worth a visit and I’m looking forward to working my way along the promenade and trying more of these interesting restaurants. 🥂 🥩...
