I usually go to the Vietnamese cafe/bakery near woolworths, but, last week as we drove past, my wife saw Vintam's cafe and said may be we could come here going forward. I didn't see anything wrong with the previous cafe, but I obliged. Now, I have been to this place once or twice prior to COVID19 when our offices were open. I don't see any issues then.
Today however, we came in to Vintam's as my wife felt like a Banhmi. She walked in and asked if the had tofu? when the shop attendant said we have chicken, my wife again asked, do you have tofu? to which the lady replied we have pork. My wife then says, anything vegetarian? The lady then responds we have Tofu. Now this was not the problem.
The problem was that my wife bought several sweet and savoury items as well as a drink. She came back into the car and took a sip of the drink only to find it odd tasting. She then checked the expiry date and saw that the drink had expired in March and it is now December, you do the math.
My wife went back and informed the shop attendant. To my surprise, there was no remember if a shock , a surprise or even remorse. She said take any drink you like from the fridge. My wife checked all the same type of drinks ti find they all had the same expiry date and informed the shop attendant who was quiet unbothered.
I can't say for sure, but this all seems deliberate. My wife hesitantly ate the bahnmi and didnt want ti ear the carrot cake as she couldn't trust it is...
Read moreThe best tofu banh mi I have ever had. I’ve had a lot of good ones over the journey but this is quite simply on another level. The bread is super fresh, the tofu is bursting with flavour. The temperature of all the ingredients is just perfect.
I’ve been here twice and both times were 10/10.
I also ordered a salad roll, which to my surprise arrived warm / in a toasted roll. It was just incredible. All the salad ingredients were nice and cold, but the roll had been heated. The texture of it all was...
Read moreSurprisingly good little vietnamese cafe. Perhaps not the most authentic Banh Mis (with something resembling coleslaw but oh so tasty). Bread is a nice crusty vietnamese roll but soft on the inside. Spicy noodle soup was delicious and fresh with an intense stock and small amount of vietnamese herbs. The cherry on the top are the donuts. I was upsold into buying a freshly made one and it was one of the best I had. Service is...
