We came here for lunch today, Saturday afternoon. Let me start of by saying for a weekend lunch spot, it is is way too quiet, great for us but people are sleeping on this amazing place! Everything was 10/10. The man service us was very attentive and polite, I loved the Japanese inspired decor and now the food. Where do I even begin? Well, it was so good, I didn’t stop to take a photo. I couldn’t stop eating. Every single delish was fresh, full of flavour and pricing and quantity was perfectly matched. We started off with Sashami and Wagyu Beef Tataki. The sashimi was fresh and every bite melted in the mouth. We got the mixed one, 9pc - 3x Salmon, 3x King Fish and 3x Tuna. I’m use to having Beef Tataki thinly sliced but this was thicker sliced, with a good amount of vinaigrette and the fresh minced garlic on top tied it all together beautifully. I think the cut being wagyu made it all the more tastier and went down easily. We then had the fried soft shell crab come out. WOW, it was simply delicious. Perfectly crispy and the batter didn’t over power the flavour of the crab. Secondly it came on a bed of watermelon and the bites of watermelon in between was refreshing. I feel like I could go on forever but other dishes we had were: Soft Bone Chicken Karaage this was great but may not be for everyone, especially if you don’t like to deal with bones, better off just getting the traditional Chicken Karaage. We got the Chicken Teriyaki Skewer and Scallop Skewer - the pieces were juicy and FAT as in THICK, no flimsy pieces of meat here. We also got Truffle Edamame - this was good, I personally didn’t taste the truffle but it’s only 50c more I believe than the normal edamame so no loss. For sides we had 2 servings of rice and plain udon. Generous servings. We last got 3 drinks - 2 Japanese soft drinks and Sake of the month. All together our bill was approx. $150. Totally worth it and we will be returning. My husband is a picky eater and has been to Japan and has said this is as close as to what he experienced over there in terms of quality of food and flavour. Thanks for a...

Read moreFamily decided to try out this new Japanese place in our neighbourhood tonight. Excellent hospitality and service, and food was of good quantity and quality! The seafood used in the sashimi and Don's were nice and fresh and good sizing too. Authentic agadashi tofu and takoyaki was flavourful and tender. Good homemade salad dressing. Good selection of Japanese beverages alongside the normal drink offerings etc, we sampled a few of the sakes and a Suntory alchopop, yum! Ambience is cosy so it will do well for a nice family dinner or even a casual date night, but looks like they doing a decent takeaway trade too. We have picky eaters in the fam and their bowls were empty at the end of the meal, so nuff said. Great job Sakanaya,...
