Dining at Post was mostly a delight, though not without its quirks. We started with the arancini, which were a standout ; crispy on the outside, soft and smoky on the inside, with a comforting cheesy warmth that genuinely felt like a hug. A near-perfect dish, though the portion was much smaller than what was described to us. 9/10 The stracciatella was good, with quality cheese, but the pickled mushrooms and shallots didn’t suit my personal palate. That said, I can see how others might enjoy the bold flavours. Sourdough? Flawless. Fresh, crusty, and exactly what you’d hope for. However, when we got home, we realised we had been charged for two serves of sourdough, even though we only had one. A small detail, but disappointing nonetheless given the service one would expect with an expensive price tag. The saffron tagliolini was a bit of a letdown in terms of flavour. While it was deliciously cheesy and generously portioned, the saffron was undetectable and the zucchini was meagre. Still enjoyable. The chicken dish had a beautifully crisp skin and the onion gravy was excellent, but the meat itself was slightly dry. Fortunately, the gravy helped balance it out. Then came the triple fried potatoes, which were shockingly disappointing, possibly the worst I’ve ever had. No flavour, under-seasoned, and the black garlic aioli was far too bitter and lacked the creaminess you’d expect. A hard pass. On a brighter note, the ambience was fantastic. The space was warm and welcoming, complemented by the beautiful greenery and our waitress was especially lovely and accommodating. 10/10 One final gripe: $11 for a bottle of water is outrageous, even if not entirely unexpected for a restaurant of Post’s calibre. It would’ve been nice if we were told upfront. Overall Post delivers a polished dining experience with standout moments and a few missteps. Worth a visit just skip the potatoes.

Our recent visit to Post Restaurant in Perth was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring we had a wonderful dining experience. Every dish we ordered was crafted with care and attention to detail. We started with the beef carpaccio and fish crudo, both of which were fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with delicate flavors. The beef carpaccio was expertly seasoned, while the fish crudo had a perfect balance of acidity and texture. For the main course, we had the rigatoni pasta and the snapper fish of the day. The rigatoni was cooked to perfection, coated in a rich and flavorful sauce that left us savoring every bite. The snapper was fresh, tender, and expertly prepared, showcasing the quality of ingredients and skill of the kitchen. A true highlight of the meal was the special baked/fried potato served as a side dish. This was, without a doubt, one of the best potato preparations we have ever had—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and packed with incredible flavor. It was the perfect accompaniment to our mains. Post Restaurant delivers an elevated dining experience with outstanding food, warm hospitality, and a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable meal in Perth. We can’t wait to return!

Ok service Lovely interior Good food Perhaps our mistake was ordering the degustation. However my fave way to experience a menu is by doing the chefs choice and getting a spread of the menu. I feel we each would have enjoyed better if we chose our own dishes. Everything was good but I did not leave having loved it. However, the value of the tasting is very good. To begin we were served the veal battuta, flavoursome with pops of anchovy. Tuna bruschetta was a stand out. Served on wood fired bread was delicious. The arancini were a let down. They lacked flavour and needed a sauce to cut through the bland dry texture. Next was a ricotta gnocchi in a mushroom sauce. This dish was very good with textures and flavour perfect. Next there was a choice of chicken or fish. Having chosen the fish I was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth and served with a side of cooked greens along with a bowl of three cooked potatoes. The chicken while perfectly cooked and succulent was not served with any sides and had we known we would have ordered some greens. Finally the chefs tiramisu. All the right flavours and texture. We left feeling very full. Combined with a drink and coffee each this was quite an expensive lunch all meals very high quality, suggest choosing off menu to really enjoy your favourites.

Ive given this place several 5 star reviews and now they slap me in the face with a dreadful table located outside the main dining room in what I can only describe as the more "cafeteria style" outer dining area. I took my family out to dinner a few nights ago as I had been talking "Post" up as a great restaurant to relax and enjoy a good meal. After booking several weeks out, I expected to have a reasonable table (for 4 people) but was greeted on arrival with a decidedly lower standard location which was quite dark and uninviting. I was crestfallen but I decided not to make a fuss in front of my adult sons and wife.

Service was OK and the food was of a good standard but the night was marred by the less than elegant ambience.

I understand perhaps not everyone can squeeze into the main dining area on a busy evening, and perhaps I had an expectation to dine in that particular area. I did not realise there was a accessory dining area but this is more reminiscent of a more casual bar dining area.

If I am ever asked to dine in this area again I can promise Post I will not be eating there and will certainly specify the main dining area for my next booking. A less than enjoyable evening but Post deserves another chance.

Update

Dinner last Saturday with friends from Melbourne. Excellent suggestions from our waiter /sommelier who chose a delicious Pieropan Soave Classico. The Kingfish was delicious as was my chicken Diavolo (quite a generous serve too I might add). My guests loved the pork cotoletta. Great night out and delicious food. The Melbourne contingent were very impressed, as was I (again). I love this place!!

Impromptu dinner at Post list night. Haven't been there for a while so I thought why not? A great choice and I wish I hadn't waited so long between visits. A slight wait for our table but a very cheery and pleasant greeting by our hostess, excellent table. Very Italian oriented wine list.

Oh the food. Wow. Entree brought out really quickly (maybe we looked hungry) and both my wife and I loved our choices. A superb Kingfish crudo and an equally delicious veal buttata. First rate.

Mains were similarly superb, both the Pork cotoletta was delicious (and enormous) as was the mushroom gnocchi. I planned for the chicken Diavoli but was recommended the cotoletta- man it was so good!!!

Excellent service, quick efficient and friendly.

Cant wait to come back.

My new favourite restaurant in the city.

Sadly, a horrible experience. My partner took me to post to celebrate my birthday and I’d been really excited to try it. We had an 845pm booking – which is listed as a 120 minute seating.

Within five minutes of having the menus we were asked to place our entire food order, feeling panicked by not even having a chance to look at the menu properly I asked the waiter to bring his recommendations. Mind you while he was taking the order another waitress came over and told us we need to also order dessert now. At this point, we would’ve been about 15 minutes into our booking.

Being someone who has managed restaurants before I knew exactly what was happening and I could tell that the kitchen were pushing us to order quickly so that they could close. For an expensive birthday meal that is the last feeling that you want to be sitting with.

Our mains arrived before we were even finished our entrees and they were so disappointing. It was undercooked risotto and cold rigatoni, I don’t usually complain at restaurants out of respect, but I was so annoyed I asked them to take it back.

Trying to salvage what was supposed to be a nice evening we thought we would have an espresso and dessert (by this time it was 60 minutes into being seated) and we were told that it was too late. I don’t understand why they would have 120 minute seating times in the evening if they don’t intend to honour it.

The host was kind enough to refund us $40, however we were still leaving with a $400+ bill and a very bad taste in our mouths (literally and figuratively).

My partner felt so bad because it really ruined the birthday evening that we had been so looking forward to, and he’d saved up for.

I don’t feel our complaints were rectified correctly and I would discourage people from eating there...
