Dear Jesse-GM
I booked six weeks in advance The lift for walkers and wheel chairs was broken, and has been for an extended period time! My suggestion would be to have your maintenance team place two planks to access the lobby 3.No front of house greeting. I walked through to the bar, where 4 staff were having a lovely conversation. I was then taken to an isolated table between rooms, where I promptly advised your staff member of what I had requested. Dirty floor around me from the previous service. The staff member spoke the blurb stating the Motherâs Day special included a glass of champagne (it was when I received my bill that I saw the amount, certainly not the charge I was advised from when I booked was from the $85 charge to now be $125.00).After an extensive dialogue with staff the bill became $85.00 per head, $54.00 for 2 glasses of champagne [that was presented as complimentary in the price from the beginning of our sitting],$11.00 water! Definitely not a Motherâs Day deal! How you thought customers would accept this, I would be surprised! FOOD:Firstly, the one suppose hot item my mum had was tepid, as was the supposed cold food, served at room temperature, food should be served hot or cold. Sweets are not pleasant to eat at room temperature. Furthermore, your scones were certainly not the light fluffy scones that I know of. They were cold, and the equivalent of rock cakes, in fact not edible. Your kitchen is well below par. We were served tepid food-6 morsels. Half an egg sandwich, a salmon tart, mum had a croquette, I as a person who does not eat meat received a 1/4 of square loaf bread slice with two slices of tomato, a snippet of basil and a dollop of cheese! Terrible and such a poor item to offer. Scones-rock hard. I would not be serving all the food at the same time. Scones should be served as a warm, light and fluffy item, with cold cream and cold jam, both items were were warm on Sunday
I was repeatedly asked if I wanted tea by both staff, soon after one had already asked me. Staff communication to serve guests needs to be streamlined. Furthermore, the blurb by your staff is text book and rope learned, and it showed. Staff can briefly mention that all produce, where possible is sourced locally, beginning and end of story. Most people are there to enjoy the environment and service interruptions should be minimal. When I received my bill, and questioned it the staff advised me they only found out on the day of the additional charge. I can assure you there was nothing special with your Motherâs Day high tea. Which leads me to two biscuits in a box, unattractive, and tasteless. Whoever thought this idea could have at the minimum had two quality, tasty items. The second box was pretty with two truffles, that I did not eat. In conclusion your mothers day high tea was well below par. Poor quality food and no value for money. In costing your 8 morsels per person, the food items per morsel would be struggling to cost more than $2.00 per morsel( and thatâs being generous). The main cost would be your wages, as the food items were below very average . Pretty, but no wow factor as far as taste goes (although the ingredients for the salmon and beetroot tart would have been lovely if cold, with seasoning of salt and pepper, unfortunately the taste was salmon with no enhancement from the creme fraiche and salmon mix and beetroot decoration.
Finally , I received my bill! After questioning the bill, the service person said she needed to get her supervisor. No one appeared. The person returned, still charging me for the champagne. When they explained the Motherâs Day special at the onset, there was no mention of the additional charge on the day, or that the champagne was additional. It was told to me that the Motherâs Day high tea special included a glass of champagne. As I had booked it six weeks ago, as far as I knew the price was $85.00.There is no value in your food. The saving grace is the architecture. What I was served on Sunday requires a review. Below...
