Had a beautiful evening at The Sentinel. If you are looking for delicious food with some fine dinning this place is on point. The service was awesome, the ladies were attentive but didn’t hang around. Drinks and food were all serviced in a timely manner but allowed for us to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s warm and cozy inside and if you are if your partial to people watching there is plenty of it along St Georges Tce. We were given complementary canapés which was a mushroom purée of some description with feta. The short crust pastry case that it came in complimented it beautifully. It was crunchy but also fell apart nicely. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I ran the gauntlet and ordered the octopus. I have countless disappointment with this dish lately. However, this was cooked perfectly!!! It wasn’t chewy, was easy to cut and had great flavour. It came with wedges of potatoes. Not sure this completes the octopus. I personal preference would have been something acidic. My main was the angel hair pasta. I was impressed with how much seafood was in this. The tomato sugo was rich in flavour. Finished the night off with some of the best expresso martinis I have ever had. I could taste the coffee and the alcohol and they came in a decent size glass. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Unfortunately, my parents birthday dinner was a big disappointment. We both ordered medium-rare scotch fillets, but they were cooked terribly. One was so underdone it was practically raw and super chewy, while the other was completely overcooked and dry. There wasn’t nearly enough sauce to compensate, and when you’re reaching for salt and pepper to add flavor, it says a lot. Unfortunately, both the salt and pepper shakers were empty. We also ordered a side of fries, which should have been foolproof, but somehow even they were underwhelming. Adding to the frustration, getting a waiter’s attention was almost impossible as they zipped around avoiding eye contact. For $65 a steak double what you’d expect to pay elsewhere we expected much higher quality. In fact, I wouldn’t have been satisfied even if they were priced at $35 each. On top of the food issues, the seating was incredibly cramped, leaving no space to enjoy the meal comfortably. Overall, it was far from the enjoyable experience we had hoped for. Definitely not worth it.

We hadn't planned on visiting Sentinel, but as we were wandering back to the car from Elizabeth Quay we decided to try our luck without a booking on a Saturday night, with 2 young kids. The staff were very accommodating and luckily had a table near an outdoor heater which they turned on for us. The food was delicious. I had the King Island prawn entree, with garlic butter and kaffir lime 👌 had to fend the kids off because they liked it too. We also had the eye fillet and the scotch fillet which were cooked perfectly (asked for medium rare for the eye and rare for the scotch) with a lovely char-grilled flavour. The waiter kindly gave us another plate for the kids as I'd mentioned they would be sharing, without prompting. Desserts were devoured before photos were even considered. The creme brulee was completely different to what most restaurants serve, but was fantastic. Our kids had the chocolate fondant, husband had an affogato, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Would definitely go back.

We had a beautiful dinner here tonight. Entree for me was the Haloumi dish and it was perfectly spicy and super tasty. If you a spicy entree to accompany your red wine - this is it. I actually started with a nice slice of sourdough with the salty butter but the Haloumi had to get mentioned first simply because it was a really great dish.

My wife had the Beef Tartare which she devoured so I’m assuming it was good - she just nodded smiled and engulfed LOL.

My main was the Angus eye fillet with a side of Brussel Sprouts. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare with an excellent caramelised crust (it was superb) and I was too full by the end to finish my sides but they were so good I intentionally just stuffed myself (I’ll regret it throughout the night LOL). My wife opted for a second entree for her main (the pork belly) and had a Waldorf salad to accompany that - which I never got to enjoy any of either - so I was disappointed with that haha but she did say it was very good!

Our primary waitress was a lovely young lady named Mary and she was gorgeously attentive and caring and so reinforced our first preference to always go to table service restaurants. They are ‘our thing’ and we’re both very glad we gave SB&G a go. All the staff were genuine and on spot - thank you Mary, the owner (didn’t introduce myself so didn’t get his name) and the other staff who served us tonight. Awesome teamwork guys! Thank you for a great value evening!...

We dined at Sentinal Saturday evening. Firstly I’d like to ask (Inquisitively) about this growing trend around Perth restaurants. When finalising your bill you are asked to select whether or not to pay a tip. This for us causes an uncomfortable situation to be forced into. Consumers already pay very good money to dine out in Australia. It is my understanding that the tipping culture is primarily for those economies such as America, where waiter’s/waitresses incomes depend largely on tipping due to very low pay rates. You are also assigned one waiter or waitress for the entire duration and tip that individual accordingly. This is not the case here in Perth or Australia for that matter. Pays are higher and tipping is not part of our economy or Culture. A tip jar on the counter is perfectly understandable. As for the meal, for my entree I ordered the beetroot salad, which was sensational but unfortunately raised the bar on my expectation of the main meal. For this I ordered the eye fillet with Paris mash, which was nice although mediocre in flavour. The disappointment for me was the pepper and brandy sauce (which was the deciding factor for my dinner reservation) this was unfortunately no where near as flavoursome as it sounded, It had very little to no flavour. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, staff were friendly...
