On Saturday night we had the most amazing experience at the Heritage Wine Bar, far more than just a birthday dinner for two! We were greeted by James the Venue Manager and introduced to Jess the Wine Connoisseur who would be making selections to accompany the Chef's Menu prepared by Gordon the Head Chef and his team. Champagne and bread to start, followed by a selection of snacks; after the tuna tartare tarts and sea urchin we were already giving the fantastic dishes 10/10 when we tried the Grouper wings, which were amazing and required the adoption of a new rating system to go higher; 11/11. The Entrées were octopus with squid ink, and Wagyu tartare and at this stage we were having the best fine dining experience we've ever had; each course was exceptional and accompanied by fantastic wines with Jess explaining the notes and background with an experience and passion we loved. A chance discussion with James led to a personalised tasting of whiskeys & bourbons sharing his knowledge and selection methods, and devoting his time to us so naturally whilst maintaining the flow of the evening for us and the guests at other tables. Mains was a perfectly presented dish of lamb, two styles, with a flavour and layer of crackling that was unexpected and divinely perfect. After desert (chocolate marquise and a cheese platter) we just wanted to keep soaking up the atmosphere of a truly amazing night, so we went down to Bobéche where Patrick the Bar Manager looked after us like were regulars; relaxing layout, great music selection, exciting cocktails. This was an experience to treasure, and the price righty reflects that, but when it comes to best birthdays ever, we certainly won't forget the Heritage Wine Bar; thank you...
Read moreDo not order the oysters! They were most definitely a letdown. They were far from fresh, with an old, rotten, and fishy taste. It was an extremely disappointing experience. We ordered three plates of oysters at $72.00 per plate, and I can confidently say they were among the worst oysters I've ever had. We had a party of 11 and were informed that a la carte or the chef's selection was not available; we had to book a function with a set menu for parties larger than 8. We chose the 2-course set menu at $98 per person, along with a $1000.00 deposit, which wasn't an issue. However, when we arrived at the venue, we received poor and unwelcoming treatment from the venue manager, who appeared annoyed, unwelcoming, and rude from the moment we walked in. He asked us why we were there, to which I replied that we had a reservation under my name for the specified time. Throughout the evening, he remained unwelcoming and unapproachable. We struggled to get the staff's attention, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. Additionally, we were not big wine drinkers and chose alternatives, which did not sit well with the staff. This was a letdown since we came for the food and not the alcohol. The heritage building itself is charming, and the small, intimate venue adds to the experience. However, the venue manager's attitude disappointed us, and overall, the food didn't live up to our expectations. We spent approximately $155 per person here and left feeling disappointed. I would recommend this place for drinks, especially if you enjoy wine. Nevertheless, the food was a letdown, not worth the price, and the service was subpar in our...
Read moreGroup of 4 of us Went for dinner on Saturday night. Food was good, nothing to write home about however very limited choices. Three of us drinking Vodka and lemonade and 1 drinking wine. The lady drinking wine had to ask several times to have her carafe left at the table so that she could fill her glass at her leisure. Those of us drinking Vodka were told that we had drunk all the vodka they had. Grey goose bottle was empty all bar 15ml. I saw the Belvedere vodka was placed up on top shelf and was over half full. We asked if we were being cut off. The waitress said no we have just run out of vodka. We were not being loud rowdy or obnoxious. Just 2 mature couples out for dinner and a few drinks and laughs on a Saturday night. Upon handing us the menu the waiter informed us that there were no oysters as they had run out at lunch time. Our reservation was for 7.30. Why did they not get more oysters delivered for their customers. We at that point considered leaving and going somewhere else. Very very disappointed at the whole situation that occurred with the vodka and lack of food and will not be returning. The waitress tried taking my and my partners glass before it was empty and placed it on her tray. I removed it from her tray and my partners and said we have not finished thank you. Food is Extremely over the top over priced. Drinks extremely overpriced at $25 per glass, this was for vodka and lemonade. Would not recommend this bar at all will never return. Very...
