Bahloo Portland — Restaurant in Victoria

Not sure if it was because they had new staff, or not. But they got our order wrong twice, there was no customer service ir friendliness. I've worked in hospitality in 8 years and you should always give service with a smile and be courteous to your guests.. the girl on the counter had to keep asking me what I meant to order, even when i was reading from the menu. Its like she had no idea what was on the menu. The girl who served us our food just dumped the food and looked like she wasn't happy to be working, not even a hello. Forgot to give us cutlery and sugar for our drinks. My meal was very tastless, dry, I had the pulled pork burger. Then my mums food was forgotten about and then just had to be served a bowl of chips. When she was still finishing eating, we then got asked to move! Because they needed to put the umbrella down because it was "breezy". Which it had been the whole morning and we got there at 12.. Which you should read the room and given us 5 more minutes which we did say that but still got told to move.

I never leave reviews like this.. because I know how hard it can be. But some feedback for the staff that you need more training on customer service friendliness and knowledge. I feel the way you have to line up and order isn't catering for the space. Either should do table service or use the table order apps. You're squishing people in that door way and it even makes it hard for the staff to deliver food and...

Food was ok. I had poached eggs on the mini bagels with avocado and feta with hollandaise sauce. I could t taste the feta at all and sadly, the food was cold which I assume was because the avocado and feta were sitting on top of the bagel causing the eggs to cool quickly. I also found the hollandaise tasted a lot like margarine, however, I’ll admit I’m not expert on how hollandaise should taste as I don’t eat it.

Coffee was delicious, just wish they were a bit larger for the price.

Service was great. I originally ordered the baked eggs with beans, and the person at the counter asked me instantly if I liked spiced foods which I stated “I can handle a little bit but not overly so”. They suggested I change my order as it can be quite spicy, I really appreciated the communication on this!
