We had been big fans of cafe21 for the past year since moving here, however today’s experience has changed all that.
I ordered my husband lunch on ubereats at 12:00. It didn’t arrive until 13:30. Now I was very much placing the majority of that blame on the Uber driver. I called cafe 21 to find out what time the driver picked our food up. The owner told me initially they made the food within 15 minutes and then was falling over his words when I was asking him what time it was picked up. Eventually he admitted it had been cooked by 12:15 and sat on the bench for 40 minutes until an Uber driver came to collect. He tried talking over me repeatedly saying it’s not their responsibility or their fault. I said it was a joint responsibility. On the restaurant to ensure the food is going to be picked up within minutes of it being prepared and Uber for ensuring someone is able to pick the food up in a timely manner. The owner then hung up on me! I have pictures of the food and coffee with a food thermometer inside to demonstrate just how cold the food was. The sandwich contained cooked chicken, so very much a food safety issue. Had I not been hung up on and the owner being willing to help resolve the issue I wouldn’t have resorted to a google review. Good reviews are forever so let this be a...
Read moreI'm an individual with coeliac-disease and was hoping to find a good experience at Cafe Twenty-One as it had great ratings for being gluten-free, and coeliac-safe.
Ordered avocado on toast - and was met with completely untoasted, soft bread with avocado on it. No salt and pepper, or any seasoning were given to the avocado. Topped with an additional poor amount of hard, and chewy, vaguely yellow(?) feta cheese. After informing the waitress, I waited a further 15-20 minutes to then receive two individual slices of toast on a plate - and was expected to scrape the avocado onto the new slices of toast...instead of receiving a new order that was worth the money paid (Roughly $20)
My partner ordered a big breakfast and paid for an extra egg to be made with the meal. Only to wait over half an hour, and have his egg come out on a separate dish, not even with his main meal? Genuinely so random we didn't even realise it was actually his egg, as the waiter stood at the table with a singular egg on a plate well and truly after our orders had been served.
This type of service should not exist when you are paying over $60 for a dine-in experience (for two people). Two meals,...
Read moreI'm very aware of the insurmountable difficulties that small businesses are having at the moment. This morning, my partner and I decided to order the special bacon and egg rolls from this Cafe. My partner very politely asked the staff member to pull her mask up over her nose and was met with a glare and a very frosty response. She then overcharged us and I corrected her. She was obviously annoyed so in an attempt to calm the situation, I explained to her that I was an ICU nurse and that the virus could travel into the airways through the nose and infect that person. I said that we all have a responsibility to ensure that we don't infect our families or others. She complained that her glasses kept steaming up (I didn't see that while she talked). Frankly, she was rude and completely disinterested. Ironically enough, the sign in the Cafe stated that staff will refuse to serve anyone wearing a mask. The lady who brought me the bacon rolls was lovely and the rolls were great but I won't be back. I'm not putting my family at...
