Crying Tiger: 3/5 stars where was the flavour? It was necessary to smother each piece of beef in the sauce, and there wasn't enough of it. Have had a lot better; the texture was a little tough too instead of tender and chewy Pad Si Ew with Chicken: 5/5 delicious. It's hard to go wrong with this dish, but for some reason this one seemed exceptionally fragrant, and the chicken weren't your typically drier, harder pieces Red Duck Curry: 4.5/5 tasty again; adequate meat in the duck pieces and not too heavy on the skin/fat thankfully, with a good amount of vegetables including juicy lychee (it's rare for other toppings to be satisfying like this). Flavour hits the spot too, but the sweetness shone through (maybe because the spices/other flavours weren't AS strong) Soft-Shell Crab Papaya Salad: 4.5/5 predictable, classic flavour. Good proportion of other toppings to papaya shreds too; roasted peanuts were fragrant, beans a good texture, tomatoes a nice pop. Best of all, the soft-shell crab was generous; at least 4 whole halves, which were crispy and soaked up the tangy dressing quite spicy -- much more so than expected. It wasn't too bad, just made the salad too intense to smash like I wanted to (lol) Crab Omelette: 4.5/5 crispy, Maillard reaction tastiness, with good serving size once again. Crab and egg (inner parts of the omelette) were substantial and delicious, but there were rather too many fried bits for my liking that were only dry, unenjoyable batter/crumb Chargrilled Pig Jowls (Khor Mhu Yaang): 3.5/5 better than Crying Tiger, more fragrant with pork and chewy in texture, but still not amazing (perhaps even including the sauce...) Stir-Fried Rice Vermicelli with Prawn, Egg & Vegetables (Sen Mee Padt Goong): 4.5/5 surprisingly tasty, yet comfortable to eat! Can see and taste the egg pieces. Extremely devourable Fried Dough Sticks with Pandan Custard (Par Tuhng Go): 4/5 the donuts/X-shaped crullers weren't too heavy like my initial experience this time, with crisp yet chewy exteriors that gave way with one's bite to an airy, half-hollow centre. However, the pandan custard was just a bit on the bland side unfortunately, and could've been a tad sweeter too.
Conclusion: Overall, not bad! Pitt Street's branch isn't as consistently good as Haymarket's, but its menu has grown to almost the same size (if not the same; unsure), so is a decent enough Thai food experience still. However, I would recommend Haymarket's...
Read moreTo the Chat Thai team, thank you for your response. The store I visited was at Westfield Central Plaza, located in the corner of the food court. It has a yellow Chat Thai logo hanging at the entrance of the restaurant.
What a regretful and dreadful dining experience at Chat Thai Westfield Sydney! Total wasted my money! Went there for a pre-theatre dinner on Wednesday at 6pm. Greeted by a grumpy waitress wanted us to order first before sitting down. Ordered Fish Cakes, Grilled Pork and Pad Thai with Chicken. Somehow lost in translation......asked for vegetable dish, I got a blank stare! Frustration arise, the grumpy waitress flagged her colleague who was unwillingly to assist. Well, no vegetable for me. During our meal, the staff busy shifting dirty buckets, containers with food scraps to the back room area of the restaurant. With lots of loud banging, washing, staff talking noise, plus the mental stools dragging across the floor, it felt like dining in a rubbish tip. Fish cakes were ok, grilled pork dish was dry like jerky accompanied with some chop up old raw vegetables. Pad Thai was super oily, bland and hardly had any chicken in it. Have to walk up to the counter to ask for cutlery. No paper napkins, another grumpy waitress saw me and pointed to a decorated 'help yourself' tissue box. Felt like committed a crime when asked for two share plates! Wait staff very swiftly clear all the plates as soon as we put down our chopsticks. MSG in the food? Maybe! As our mouths were so dry and thirsty throughout the night, drank lots of water still couldn't quench the thirst. No more Chat Thai and we definitely won't be dining at any of their...

UPDATE 27th January 2025 I am so sorry but i have to re edit my reviews as i really dissatisfied & disappointed with all service i have today. Especially it’s public holiday.
All staffs are very rude. Giving us attitude. Slamming bills to us, raise the voice asking if we done with our plates with attitude. & the worst thing i cant tolerate is one of the staff put away our tom yum soup that we put on the side in our table (position we still in the middle of our meal) We kept that so one of my friends can have it as she still finishing her white rice.
The problem here is, AT LEAST YOUR STAFF HAVE MANNERS TO ASK, “can i take this?” “Are you finish with this soup” ? She just came & grab the bowl straight away. Not even looked at us and we cant even call her to bring it back.
Come on guys. It’s basic commonsense & manners working in hospitality.
I’ve been came to chat time at least twice fortnightly. Everytime i came, all your staffs always smiling & doing the best service they can. I am just not sure why today service is very outrageous. I mean, we paid 15% of public holiday surcharges as well. If you dont feel happy to work dont bother come to work.
Not sure if i...
