April 2022 : After a change in management, this is by no means Japanese at all anymore. We ordered the Beef Tataki Don. 40 seconds later, heard the microwave ding and the order was ready. Out came piping hot, fresh from the microwave, a burning hot rice bowl. Overcooked, smelly and dry beef - the kind of smell you get from boiled beef. Overcooked, soft vegetables. Seriously disappointing. They also forgot my curry and rice. 2017: Reliable Japanese fare. Not the best but still simple and delicious. I had the chicken katsu don which was pretty good. I also had a chicken katsu curry which was okay but would have loved stronger spice. My friend had a chirashi don and he loved it because it was so generous. Karaage was pretty good but gyozas were dry and a miss. Otherwise, a very enjoyable meal.

Don Don on Oxford Street is a hidden gem for Japanese food lovers! I tried the Udon Noodle Soup, Ramen, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Shrimp Tempura, and every dish was delicious and full of authentic flavors. The food is reasonably priced, making it a great value for the quality you get. The restaurant is small, with fewer than 10 tables, but it adds to the cozy, intimate atmosphere. Despite the size, the space feels welcoming, and the staff keeps everything clean and tidy. Overall, it’s a great spot for a tasty and affordable Japanese meal in the heart of the city. Highly recommend it!

The food here was pretty tasty and well priced for its city location. The handrolls are a pretty good size and were very tasty, as was the milk bubble tea - delicious and at $4.50, not overly expensive (although they did go a bit heavy on the ice). Only problem was that I ordered 3 dishes and only 2 came out within 30 minutes of me ordering. The other item was still not served after a 30 minutes wait so I had to cancel as on limited lunch break. There was only 1 other person there when I ordered and it was takoyaki which doesn't take that long to cook so pretty disappointing.

Went in to order takeaway eel, rice $17 expensive dish with the sauce on the side instead of on the fish as they put way to much sauce on it so like it on the side. I am a regular customer.

I been going there for several years and go there about twice a week and have ordered this dish many times before with no issues, after explaining politely i wanted the sauce on the side 4 times and not on the eel she finally understood then gave me attitude and rolled her eyes several times so i walked out.

She has served me before this staff member, will get her picture, the younger female was there too who hasnt been there very long was very friendly and polite. As a business customer in the area i wont be sending my staff friends there as i have been doing and wont be going there myself anymore.

I will be going to new place in oxford square newly open and the food much fresher and there are plenty other good eating spots in the area. Train your staff better without attitude and rolling eyes and bitchiness brings the business down! show respect for loyal customers that help pay your wages...

I came in and ordered take away and they left me standing outside waiting for almost an hour and a half while the staff kept serving Uber deliverers, chatting to the staff at Burgers Anonymous and giving me nasty looks. Eventually I came inside and demanded my money back upon which they finally gave me my now stone cold ramen and apologised. I reminded them that I had been standing in their doorway and sitting at their tables while the restaurant was near empty with plenty of opportunity to ask me about my order for well over an hour and they still didn't offer me a refund. They didn't even offer to heat up my food in the microwave or make it again. Never in my life have I received such poor service and been treated with such contempt after paying $50 to be disappointed by cold rice, cold ramen and cold...
