: A Pleasant Experience at Hungry Chef Cafe

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars)

Review: During my visit to Hungry Chef Cafe in Waterloo, I had an overall enjoyable experience. The food was decent, and the service was commendable, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining.

The menu offered a variety of dishes, and while they were well-prepared and satisfying, I didn’t find anything particularly remarkable or unique. The flavors were good, but there was nothing that stood out as exceptional.

The service, on the other hand, was attentive and friendly. The staff was accommodating, making sure our needs were met throughout the meal. This added a positive touch to the dining experience.

The cafe itself had a nice ambiance, with comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal with friends or family without feeling rushed.

While Hungry Chef Cafe is a solid option for a meal, I wouldn’t say it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s okay for a casual dining experience, but I didn’t feel like it offered anything particularly special or unique.

If you’re in the area and looking for a decent meal with good service in a pleasant setting, Hungry Chef Cafe will fit the bill. However, if you’re seeking something extraordinary or out-of-the-ordinary, you might want to explore other dining options in...

Went for breakfast here recently, we had two really good fresh juices and an iced coffee, ordered an omelette with ‘crispy’ bacon, avocado, tomatoes and capsicums. The omelette came folded kind of like an eggy pancake where one side was really thin and over cooked. The fillings were just thrown into it as if they had cooked them all separately, bacon was just about cooked and in no way crispy as claimed on the menu, there was whole cherry tomatoes and a big spoonful of smashed avocado slightly heated from being in the folded egg. I would have asked for it to be redone but we were that long waiting i didnt bother. The bread on the side was pretty good to be fair. My girlfriend ordered avocado on toast with halloumi and bacon, which was a big portion and the bacon was actually crispy but there was a bunch of random things thrown on the plate like petals and pomegranate seeds with pesto under the toast, there was also a beetroot humous loaded with garlic. It was just weird and overdone kind of ruined the food by trying so hard if that makes sense. The staff were nice but service was pretty slow as we were 45 mins waiting on the food. At 65 dollars its safe to say...

We are regular customers and come here almost every week. They used to provide good-quality food with generous portions, despite occasional inconsistencies (different ingredients and tastes for the same dish). However, today we left feeling very disappointed.

I understand it can get very busy on the weekend, but the food provided was not in an acceptable condition after we waited for more than 40 minutes. They used to serve herbal tea in a pot, but it just came in a coffee cup with a tea taste plain like water and no tea bag inside. If you don’t have time to brew the tea, could you at least leave the tea bag in?

The linguine portion was very small, and the steak sandwich had very small, uneatable piece (full of ligaments …I could not cut through it using the knight ) of steak in it. We used to love their steak sandwich, and it was nothing like this. It's hard to believe that it is what it says on the menu - grass-fed Scotch fillet.

It would be nicer if they could stop selling items for which they don’t have quality ingredients and suggest other options rather than compromising quality. It was a very disappointing experience, and I was still hungry...

Ordered 3x dishes: 1.The wagyu cheese burger: not bad. 2. Korean fried chicken burger: chicken was lovely and crunchy, but the pickled fennel tasted like a 'sad' jalopeno/radish/onion with perinaise? Or something? Didn't like it and the cheese was not right in there either. Wasn't pleasant for me. The chips were nice though. 3. Matcha Pancake: This was beautifully arranged together. However, it was quite confusing to eat. Didn't get matcha in the pancakes, only sprinkled powdered matcha on top. The pancakes were really thick and heavy, not fluffy and light. The ice cream was really weird. I though it was matcha ice cream, but it tasted like those pink musk lollies??!! Also wasn't sure of the jam pink thing under the ice cream, thought it was red bean but it might be strawberry jam pieces? The fruit was nice, didn't understand how the kiwi fruit got on the plate. Also i was expecting a maple syrup, but got some bright pink sauce that also tasted like musk lollies, so didn't use much of it. Overall dining was pleasant but probably won't be back.
