RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! NEVER AGAIN :)
I went there today with my friend, and it was our first time at the place, so we had no idea there was a special offer: “Buy a combo and get one free drink.” We placed our order with a lady at the cashier. I initially chose “Mild Spicy” because I wasn’t sure about the spices and heat levels, but my friend wanted “Spicy.” I asked the lady to change my order to “Spicy” instead, but she seemed annoyed by my change of mind. It felt like she thought our English wasn’t very good, so she tried to explain in an irritating tone and asked if I was sure about my decision. I replied, “Yes, I’m sure; I know what I want.”
After that, she started processing my payment and then abruptly said, “Buy a combo, get one free drink, please,” but in a very condescending way while pointing at the picture. I was taken aback because I wasn’t sure what I had just heard, so I asked her to repeat herself. She raised her voice, clearly irritated, and repeated, “BUY A COMBO AND GET ONE FREE DRINK, PLEASE.”
At that moment, I looked at my friend to confirm that she had heard the same thing—this woman was actually raising her goddamn voice at us. The staff member thought we couldn’t understand her, so she again raised her voice in annoyance. I had enough at that point, so I interrupted her, saying, “Okay! Okay! We understand. You need to calm down; your voice is really starting to annoy me.” She finally stopped.
I thought to myself that she could have mentioned the special offer at the beginning or simply pointed it out if she struggled with English. If she was having a bad day, she should have taken a break instead of giving that attitude to customers! Please fix...
Read moreOne of my mates recommended to try the lamb skewers here (I usually get it from a different place). I ordered the lamb skewers with fat (x5) and without fat (×5) with mild spice. Please note, you can only buy as a group of 5, cannot just buy 1 individual skewer. Taste wise, it was ok, I did notice a bitter after taste that I usually don't get with other lamb skewers.
My main take away from my visit, was that they don't take card. There is no sign inside or outside of the shop to indicate cash only or wechat pay (I think that's what it was, sorry if incorrect app mentioned). While I was waiting for my lamb skewers to be cooked, I saw so many customers come in and try to pay for card but couldn't.
I might come back to try the tendon skewers but I'll have to remember...
Read moreSure, they've got chicken skewers on all the posters but let's not forget what this place is named. We're here for the lamb and so are you. The signature lamb skewers alternate with meat and fat, but you can get meat-only skewers for a slightly higher price. They're dusted with coarsely ground cumin and mildly spicy chilli powder while being grilled over charcoal. Very yummy. Would highly recommend. The beef tendon skewers are also an alternative option if you like chewy bites. And there's chicken wings too! Five is a snack, but ten or fifteen could be a meal... Do try the other places in Burwood...
