Located at The Star Sydney, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 A good place to come to eat a convenient meal while watching a sports match whether it be AFL, Rugby League, Basketball or something else. There is over 50 large LCD screens, including a huge 34 square metre screen, located all around the bar. There’s benches to sit at with stools but they are quite high, but there’s also individual tables also. The menu is very basic, really not a lot is on offer. I had the Spicy Fried Chicken Burger with fries, it was ok, but I have had better. It cost me $25.00 which I thought was pretty reasonable, considering the location. The service was quick and friendly. The group I was with, liked their food also. We were fortunate that we didn’t come on a game day so it wasn’t crowded but I know during games like State of Origin, it’s packed. I think it’s a good place to come to with your friends to enjoy a game. Good service, would recommend for this reason. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

There are many reasons why The Star is in financial trouble and tonights experience offers a lot of insight. We couldn’t watch the World Test Cricket Title Match between Australia and South Africa because The Star does not have the Prime (while priding itself for covering all sports). There were no bar codes for ordering food and instead the system stuck in 20 years ago. On top of all that 2 security guards walked to us and accused us of waping despite not checking on any evidence. The noise was moderate, it was hard to talk and listen, the chicken wings were ok. The Star has plenty of things to work on to become a respectable destination for nightlife.

We had a great time watching the Matildas in the World Cup at the Sports Bar. The atmosphere is amazing and they went all out with an emcee, face painting and prizes. They take bookings for groups of 5 and more and it’s worth having a booking to secure a table on busy sports nights. The booth seating is super comfy and chill for watching the games. The food is typical bar food with burgers, nachos, schnitzel etc. all reasonably priced with quick service. The American Burger is really good. Sign up for the star card, it’s free and it provides a discount of food and beverages. Parking is ample and is $30 for up to six hours.

Absolutely appalling experience – avoid at all costs.

Visited on a Saturday night, dressed respectfully in a suit, expecting a decent night out. Instead, I was met with one of the most disgraceful customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered.

I ordered two cocktails and a bowl of wedges. The barman (one of many who all looked identical in uniform and appearance) gave me a buzzer and said he’d be back in a minute. Ten minutes later – no sign of him. Assuming the usual buzzer system applied, I went to the table to wait.

Eventually the buzzer went off. I headed to the bar only to be abruptly and rudely told to go to the kitchen. As a tourist, I had no idea where that was. No signage, no guidance – just short, snappy rudeness. At the kitchen, only the wedges were ready. No drinks. Staff there told me to go back to the bar.

Back at the chaotic bar, I politely tried to get someone’s attention. The first staff member I could reach flatly refused to help, saying I needed to find the exact barman who served me – 20 minutes ago – in a sea of identical staff. When I said I didn’t know who it was, he shrugged and said he couldn’t help.

I asked for the manager. No manager appeared – instead, a security guard came out. I calmly explained everything, and because I couldn’t recall which staff member served me, I was accused of being intoxicated and was told to leave. Absolutely outrageous.

I showed proof of purchase on my phone. They didn’t care. They didn’t check the till. They didn’t ask a single staff member. Instead, they escalated it by calling the police.

Yes – police were called over a simple order of cocktails and wedges.

Thankfully, the police were professional and reasonable. They saw how ridiculous the situation was, confirmed I was clearly not intoxicated, and helped me get my money refunded.

The entire incident could’ve been resolved in seconds with a shred of common sense or basic customer service. Instead, the staff were rude, lazy, accusatory, and completely disinterested in resolving an issue they caused.

This place is a textbook example of how not to run a hospitality venue. Disgraceful treatment of paying customers. Shame on the staff, and shame on the absent manager who allowed this to escalate to the point police were...

9/06/19 went with family for the dinner. I ordered Southern fried chicken, Scotch Fillet & Ceasar Salad with chicken. First call through buzzer has been made for pick up the food. I went to get the food there was only Southern fried chicken was on shelf. I asked Counter Guy where is the rest of the food. He mentioned he thought it’s only one food. He got mistaken. He told to go back in my table and waith there. I was watching my food buzzer doesn’t rang for 13 minutes. I went to the Counter Guy I have told him I am not going to accept the Southern fried burger as it is sitting on the shelf for more than 13 minutes. He asked the Chef to redo the Southern fried chicken. By the time they took it back. They placed Scotch fillet and Ceasar salad on shelf. By the time I got the Southern fried chicken back. Steak became rubber. When I took the food to the table. It looks soggy and chips wasn’t hot enough due to sitting on shelf. Ceaser salad has not enough chicken as they usually do. When you are paying $8 only for adding chicken in salad you look for it. Normally, I never had this kind of experience in the past. Very disappointed with the service today. I felt like I drained the money into the gutter. Me and my family didn’t enjoy even a single bite of food with happiness....
