I went to dinner at Ucello with a girlfriend and was thoroughly impressed with the remarkable service and food. I always enjoy the pool backdrop as to me it is just so quintessentially Sydney. One thing I didn’t much care for however was the noise. I appreciated the dj later on in the night but in the restaurant it makes it extremely difficult to hear your dining companion. The entree I selected off the menu was unavailable so I decided to progress straight to the main. As a result of that the staff thoughtfully brought out a complimentary entree to accompany my friends tuna dish. It was an antipasto style dish on which I enjoyed the cheese given I don’t eat pork but it’s definitely the thought that counts. My friends tuna was also exceptional. The mains were disappointing in that she had ordered a crab pasta entree size and I had ordered a main sized gnocchi. My gnocchi was truly sensational but the dish appeared smaller in size than the entree one. Greedily I wanted more Dessert was simple but faultless, a delicious raspberry sorbet and a glass of limoncello. Well worth visiting but don’t come here expecting hearty Italian hospitality in the form of generous serve

Really enjoyed this experience, service was excellent, couldn’t fault it. Possibly helped we were with a member so received the VIP treatment. Great decor, really do feel like you have transported from Sydney CBD to a Mediterranean hotspot. We shared the chargrilled prawns, prosciutto san Daniele, wood roasted octopus & zuccini flowers to start...now I am fortunate to dine at lots of great restaurants and it’s not often I walk away feeling like I would go back for everything again! It was all so good and had a slightly unique Flare. For mains we shared the bistecca fiorentina and a special not on the menu of whole lobster tagliolini that was incredible. Even the sides where special. I don’t often say this about Merivale, but considering how many cocktails we all had and the amount of quality food I was surprised when the bill came and it wasn’t as pricey as I expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s up there, worked out just over $200 a head but I have picked up far more damaging bills for far inferior quality, quantity and service! I’ll definitely go back and soon.

We visited this place on a Saturday for lunch without a reservation, as we were in the area and chose it randomly. The host was very friendly and quickly seated us, as it wasn’t too busy at the time. The food and cocktails were alright, but unfortunately, the service was disappointing. It seemed to be an issue specific to our table, as the rest of the staff appeared friendly and attentive. The lady who served us came off as a bit judgmental, and it felt like we weren't meeting her expectations as customers. She barely gave us attention throughout our meal. When I asked if I could charge my phone (I had my charger with me, just needed an outlet), she said yes, but then left it on another table without actually plugging it in - I took the phone and she didn't even bothered to check if maybe someone else took it. I didn’t get her name, but she appeared to be a bit older than the other staff members—I'm not sure if she was the manager, but I hope not. I’m giving 3 stars based on the food, as I don’t want to judge the entire team based on one person.

DONE AND DUSTED. Have loved this restaurant for years BUT it’s hey day is gone! What was once expensive but delicious and generous, is now merger and plain which makes the price tag outrageous. I think the team here are now relying on past reputation and the playful party energy of the clients they attract who bring their good vibes to a great atmosphere because they certainly aren’t creating it through food, flavour, quality or generosity. We ordered the fixed menu, which we’ve had numerous times, we made the mistake of ordering the usual and we did not look closely at the menu to notice the change in what was included and more importantly what has been cut from the fixed menu. Assuming was the BIG mistake. Once there were olives and nibbles with bread now there’s nothing. The starters were okay but incompatible on the palette and not introduced. We had to request bread, as the shortfall in food meant long periods of time between meals. When once you received 2 large plates of pasta you served yourself from it’s now one small pasta the same for everyone which was pretty ordinary. The mains were once 3 large meat dishes and sides but tonight it was a single serve of very thin dry pasty fish (each person got about 3 cm) and a single serve of meat between 5 people that gave the 3 girls 2 slices and the 2 boys 3 and a bone to gnaw! The broccoli and lettuce were the nicest offerings which I could do at home. The chef needs review what he is delivering to meet the Uccello brand. There was definitely not ample food for the money. There was no waiter check in to see how we were tracking and could not catch anyones eye as they were all run off their feet. They are definitely understaffed to service their clients to the standard of Uccello’s reputation, location, and expense implies would be delivered. The head waiter is just too tall and needs to look down at the tables rather than scanning the room for ??? Both our finished pasta and main plates sat for more than 10 minutes and we started to stack them ourselves to lean into the conversation. The bill delivery was clumsy.. Choose not to say anything at the time some to maintain our good time vibes. Sadly we won’t be back. Time to...

Wow, what a disturbing meal. I dined here on Saturday night (7pm booking) with my best friend. We had the 3 course meal for $100 each. I ordered the char-grilled prawns with lemon and oregano - it came out looking nice, but was extremely tasteless, it didn't taste char-grilled, you could not even see the grill marks, and when I cut the prawn in half (away from the head) all this brown gunk squirted out of the prawn head. It happened to all the prawns. I could not even finish the meal. They clearly hadn't cleaned the prawns properly. The disturbance didn't end there - I ordered the pork belly as main, and it came out cold, what was supposed to be crackling, was just soggy disgusting pig skin and it was horribly dry. They squirted the salsa verde all over the plate to mask what was a very tasteless dish. For dessert, we ordered the Bombe Alaske to share, and the meringue on the outside was the tastiest bit, the inside tasted factory made and not very authentic. Will never come back here again. I complained about my main, and the waitress passed the comments on to the head of house. He apologised I didn't enjoy it and said that he didn't get any complaints on the night. I told him that he should not take my word and that he should look at the plate that was served to me. To Uccello's defence, they took out $30 for the disgusting pork belly. Overall, a very poor dining experience. Service was alright. Fitout looks nice. But that...

Excellent food in this place cannot overshadow the abysmal service and staff adding a few dollars to your bill because they think you wouldn’t notice.

I have booked Uccello for my birthday after visiting it before - it looked like a great place and the food was incredible, so I thought it would be an excellent venue to spend my special day.

I thought wrong.

Staff was incredibly inattentive, forgetting parts of our order and the food took more than an hour to arrive. On multiple occasions when we were trying to get the waiter’s attention, we were ignored, same with the person who was serving us wine. The experience was so unpleasant that we decided to skip the dessert (although I was very much looking for their tiramisu and maybe having a little candle and a happy birthday song from my friends), we paid and left.

When I was looking at the bill the next morning I’ve noticed that the price of some entrees and the sparkling wine was not matching the price on the menu. For example, they’ve charged $80 per bottle of sparkling, when the price was $78, $30 on a $28 entree. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a huge amount and not something I would go and dispute with them, but it just added to the whole unpleasant experience of the venue and made me question the integrity of their staff.

I would not return and wouldn’t recommend any of my friends to go there. Although their food is...
